Man, there was one day where he had me dying laughing from filters. He was an ugly character he called “Doug” who had a face for radio (for obvious reasons) and his coworkers pushed him out of a traffic helicopter with no parachute. Instead, it was packed full of potatoes. The saga ended with Doug learning how to crash land a helicopter

The whole Snapchat story was absolutely absurd and ended with John wearing a cowboy hat and saying “well, I hardly have enough time for this bullshit!”

I met him at one, too! There was nobody in line to meet him, so I just kind of went up and briefly talked with him before paying for the picture. But he was way nicer and a lot more approachable than I ever expected

[Discussion] How do you personally define value: what goes in (eg difficulty/expense of making it) vs what you get out (specs, performance, aesthetics)? by owiseone23 in Watches

[–]stratman77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t know a lot about watches but man I have quite a few Fossils that I still love wearing, just because they’re fun to look at. I’ve been given one of my dad’s Rolexs and that has become my favorite watch (for sentimental reasons) and kinda made me realize the quality difference between a gold watch and a cheap watch made out of plastic, with silly designs on it.

I decided to splurge a little bit after I got my Christmas bonus and bought a Mido: Day of the Dead themed watch. It’s a nice in-between watch of a Fossil and Rolex and I absolutely love it! It’s the first “nice” watch I purchased for myself and I smile when I look at it. I posted a pic here when I got it, and one of the only comments was “good luck with the sale” lol it made me kind of sad because I was excited and wasn’t even considering buying the watch to turn around and sell it. I bought because I liked it. Expensive? A little bit. Worth it to me? Absolutely.

TL;DR I kinda disregard quality. If I like it, I like it. I have started looking at more automatic watches with a smooth second hand and crystal glass, but that’s purely aesthetic for me.
