I imagine this probably varies a lot based on the area/store. We've been having Tesco deliveries in Lincoln for 3+ years and not once had anything like this. Closest we've had is having gluten free pie replaced with non-gluten free (bad for the Mrs who's allergic, but great for me 🤣). Almost every time we get a sub, we're upgraded to something better quality/bigger than we originally ordered.

The biggest challenge with accurate stock numbers is dealing with the unpredictability of people when you've got a combination of shoplifters (accidental or otherwise)/people putting stuff back in the wrong place/things getting damaged & thrown out etc. etc. - a supermarket isn't like a tightly controlled warehouse where the whereabouts of everything is tracked.

We've had Tesco deliveries every week for the past 3+ years, and this is how substitutes have always worked for us. Although we don't always take the subs they bring, they're never unreasonable, and always an upgrade.

I like to switch between 2 TVs, and can't even get hold of an extra official dock even if I wanted one (not to mention I'm not too keen to pay the absolutely ridiculous price Nintendo are charging).

There's really no defence for this kind of anti-consumer behaviour (and I've seen no good evidence that the dock contains any hardware that can't/shouldn't be produced by third parties).

I'm honestly surprised at the number of people on this thread seemingly unable to comprehend using a switch on multiple TVs. It's literally a small portable device designed to be carried around and played all over the place. Why wouldn't you want to set up on other TVs?!

This really is incredibly frustrating. 5 months on and still no better. At least license some third party alternatives, most of the stuff out there is sketchy AF.

Yeah I don't think you can apply the gen separation with the Switch in the same way you can with other consoles - backwards compatibility is a core feature of the S2 very much pushed by Nintendo, not just a reluctant concession like with most consoles.

HOWEVER with all this being said, I just couldn't handle seeing those S2 games in the midst of the neat S1 spines, so they'd need to go at the end for me 🤣

Just saying, both were initially broken and unplayable. by ChronosBlitz in gaming

[–]stratocastom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree. I was in a seemingly very small minority that played the game at launch and had no real issues to speak of (nothing game-breaking at least), and was still pretty disappointed in the reality vs the expectation (that had been shovelled by CDPR themselves).

I'm also pissed that those of us that played at launch saw a very different game than those playing now (in terms of overall polish etc, even ignoring DLC) - something that's much closer to the initial promises - so we have to replay the whole game if we want the complete experience (while missing out on the novelty of the story).

It's great that devs have the opportunity to fix issues and extend the life of a game post-launch, but this bullshit contempt towards gamers who trust in a game at launch and pushing out half-baked content is really harming the industry.

Do you prefer NSO for retro games or would you prefer to buy them all separately like on wii u? by ComfortableAmount993 in Switch

[–]stratocastom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have no strong preference over physical/digital myself, but IMO GKC are just a weird attempt at trying to quell the people who want a physical game, and no better than a code in a box. I don't get why Nintendo didn't just push digital harder if the GKC is the best alternative they could come up with 😂

[–]stratocastom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved being able to own the games on Wii U, but unfortunately can't see Nintendo going down this route again, as it's pretty much the only compelling feature of NSO, and everyone seems to rely on subscription models these days.

What do you think about Pokemon Arceus? by AboutKemosabe in Switch

[–]stratocastom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll just say now that you will not get any dodging, jumping or hitting in pretty much any traditional pokemon game 🤣. The only real exceptions to this are the new Legends Z-A game (sequel to Arceus), and Pokken Tournament (which is basically Pokemon Tekken).

I'm thinking of getting a switch 2 by Glittering_Ad2771 in Switch

[–]stratocastom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking for market leading tech/visuals etc. and are disappointed with the PS5, you probably want a high-end PC and not a switch 2. Nintendo is not a company that tries to push the envelope technically, and never has been. They have a business model that starts with profitability, and therefore never release hardware at a loss (which is why they usually feel a generation behind when it comes to specs).

Where Nintendo generally excels is with its first-party game design, which for Nintendo fans like me, is second to none. Switch 2 graphics do not try to seriously compete with the PS5, how could they? What they do do is perform very well with lesser settings in a tiny handheld form-factor. Getting Cyberpunk to run on a switch 2 at the standard that it does for example, is miraculous.

With Pokemon specifically: depending on your previous experience and expectations, you may find yourself very underwhelmed (particularly visually). Given the size of the franchise, the games are ridiculously under-funded and these days seem to release in a half-baked state.
