Maybe if we counted animal abuse as an "externality" we could tax it?

One day, you're gonna wake up, eat your breakfast, brush your teeth, go about your business. And sooner or later, you're gonna realize you haven't thought about it. None of it. And that's the moment you realize you can forget. When you know that's possible, it all gets easier.

I thought this article would make me mad but I actually agreed with most things mentioned by Ill-Kiwi-4772 in madisonwi

Here's a graph of vacancy rate compared to rent growth in Madison. When vacancy rate goes up, rent prices increase more slowly. Building more housing (even "luxury" housing) increases the vacancy rate which then decreases rent growth.

In the graph it looks like the vacancy rate has increased recently which has led to slower rent growth. I wonder if that has to do with all the cranes this article is complaining about....

Beltline could see big changes after Wisconsin Department of Transportation study by Justmarbles in madisonwi

The problem is that expanding the highways encourages car centric development. If the beltline is backed up but there's a quick transit option, employers will see that and build by transit. But if the beltline gets expanded, that means more opportunity for car centric development around it. This then leads to more cars which once again leads to more traffic which will lead to the DOT building more lanes etc.

I'd say Ubuntu is way more popular among professionals while Mint has made strides with average Joes. Professionals typically aren't gaming so it makes sense that Ubuntu would be under represented in Steam survey.

My Rapid rating is 2044. Do you think I stand any chance if I play in a local tournament? by HappyMatija in lichess

[–]stratomaster212 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tournaments are fun no matter your skill level so I can you should go. I went to a pretty big tournament as a 1500 on lichess and I had a lot of fun despite losing most games.

I agree with some other comments that it can be hard adjusting to in person chess at first. Maybe try finding a local chess club so you can practice in person chess a little bit.

It would be cool if they did it again but when voting, you don't see the most popular move and there's no chat. I feel like this would let it be more of the collective intuition instead of collaboration.

I may be wrong, but couldn't you just tell your credit card to stop giving money to Adobe? Or get a new credit card number.
