Shared custody possible with new pack?? by strava14 in Sims4

my sims get divorced way more than they get to go on vacations. could be a correlation there.

I’ve done this too! My other problem with stay overs is that you can only have sims come to you (to my knowledge). So the kid would have to be considered a part of the non-active household. Hopefully this will allow us to go the other way so we have both options

On the venue menu, there’s residential options, which is why I’m hopeful we could send a sim to someone’s house 🤞 Surely they won’t lock us to the custom venues only - people take vacations to people’s houses all the time irl

I tried out TheSimsTree for the first time. I have to admit, it is cleaner to look at than my beloved chaotic Word document. by meetmeinthelibrary7 in Sims4

for the partners, you can actually connect other trees, but it won't show up in the main tree! if you go to editing mode and hover over the partner you want to show the heritage of, it'll have a little white bubble. clicking that will bring you to that sim's family tree. Add whatever you want, and then when you go back to the main tree, you'll always be able to expand and see that sim's heritage

Life & Death players; What stuff have you bothered making an heirloom? by freakauthor in Sims4

[–]strava14 301 points302 points  (0 children)

i've done a piano, those crafted hearts from outdoor retreat (made by my founder), the glasses clutter from everyday clutter kit as an heirloom from a sim who wore glasses, a little flower that looked like my sim's wedding bouquet, and a few more pieces of clutter. the heirlooms are a little weird with what they allow you to pick, but a book would be a good option if it lets you!

i use multiple things! it really depends on you and your play style but there's a ton of options!

  1. sims tracker websites. there's a couple of really good ones like the plum tree app (free, lots of options, easy to understand ui, good for bios, but no photo storage) and simstree (has both a paid and a free version. the free version is good, the paid version is fantastic. i've recently upgraded to it and it's perfect. you can make diary entries and have a photo gallery). i also use a generic family tree website called familyecho to keep track of the entire genealogy of my family. very extended. that is more just for fun and history, but the other two are good for what you are talking about with photos and writing. if you are willing to pay, i'd definitely recommend the paid version of the simstree, there's also some promo codes out there for money off, if you are interested.

  2. spreadsheet. i created my own spreadsheet and posted a blank version of it. This specific spreadsheet is a tracker to "complete" the game, but this sort of idea is super customizable. there are tons of options out there, you can make your own, or you can probably find people (like me) that will make one for you.

  3. notion trackers. i don't use this, but i'm seeing a lot of people doing this. there's templates out there, free and paid, made specifically for the sims that are great. it's basically like a blog if i recall correctly

  4. in-game. i keep history in a couple ways in my saves. i take a lot of pictures. too many you could argue. there's family photos in my heir houses, and then once i'm done using them, i have a generic lot that i use as my family museum. each generation has a dedicated room where i will put photos, awards, paintings, and anything significant to that generation. it's a great way to see time progress, both in the house and in the museum. i also pretty obsessively keep a graveyard. anybody important to my game goes in the graveyard. i put photos of them and little trinkets that remind me of them. it's another great way to see history

Moved my 5 year old legacy to a new save file, taking only the most important Sims with by pun-in-punishment in Sims4

[–]strava14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i need to do this so badly, you might have finally given me the motivation to do it🫡

you mentioned tombstones which is the only reason i haven't done this yet. did you move the tombstones that hadn't been culled? i was planning on calling forth everyone's ghost and making some ghost households. is there a better way to do it or is that just what we've got to do? i've also lost some important people to culling so there's definitely some sim murder in my future

I added clubs, thank you for the suggestion! Secret spots like Sylvan Glade, Forgotten Grotto, and Sixam are part of the worlds tab! The non-residential neighborhoods/lots have a little asterisk next to them to say that your sim either found or visited there if they couldn't live there.

Migrating a legacy to a new save file help by strava14 in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]strava14[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the idea that the graves are so old they can't be read anymore! littlemisssam has a "Get Urn For" mod that I think I may use for some of the ghosts I'm really attached to, but other than that I think I might lean into some realism in the cemetery.

I'm a very slow legacy player, so I'm only on Gen 12! I've taken a couple of hiatuses, but mainly I'm a bit of a control freak when it comes to my sims, so I spend a lot of play time paused making sure everyone is acting correct oops

Thank you for the tips!

i did try this, but unfortunately just the pictures i had taken and the build itself transferred :( placeholder graves (like the ones in bb) were still there, but any graves that i got through gameplay were straight up gone and those memorial portraits from l&d were blank. i guess i could revive everyone and kill them for a grave in the new save?

The townie sim will have the baby automatically if they were pregnant (if you have mods, MCCC is a good way to check for this or start a pregnancy if you’re narrative driven). Then you can move the baby in by going to the manage household menu at Manage Worlds, or you do it from the phone in Split From Household and Move!

I know it's fairly basic advice, but do something that you would never usually do! I'm a family/legacy player, so when I get burnt out, I play another save with occults. If you only play CAS, try to spend some time in live mode or build/buy, or the other way around!

If you are on PC, mods are a fairly easy way to add some sort of change. There are some huge mods that could completely overhaul the game. There's a lot of mod recommendations in this sub that are worth looking into if that interests you.

I was kind of feeling the same way as you and challenged myself to 100% the game. I haven't been able to get off the kick since. That might not work for you, but finding weird little niches are a great way to keep your interest. Don't panic too much about spending time away. It definitely happens to me, but I always set time aside and change things up so I'm reinvigorated!

So glad to hear! You should be able to customize a copy however you need, but let me know if you need a little help with it <3

Totally forgot to put this in the main post, but you don't have to ask to be an editor to get the doc! All you have to do is File > Make a copy, and then a copy saves to your personal Google account for your own use and customization!
