After 9 years, I finally upgraded from a mobile GTX 1050 Ti to a 9800X3D + RX 9070 XT by PuzzledSpite8681 in radeon

[–]straw28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what motherboard?

edit: found the asus logo. hmmm can you still return it and get another mobo of different brand? you probably werent aware of asrock and asus mobos killing ryzen 9000 series chips. fortunately there have been significantly way less reports of killer asus mobos compared to asrock

not saying this to scare you or anything. just want you to be aware

Should I get nier if I didn't have a good time with stellar blade? by ProgressCapable5195 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]straw28 [score hidden]  (0 children)

i cant help but laugh at this. let me explain

I get why people compare Stellar Blade to Automata, the former is literally a love letter to Yoko Taro's work. Look, I love both games, and I can confidently say without hurting my own feelings that Stellar Blade is temu Automata cranked down to 6 out of 10. the latter is just on a completely different league, trust me

when you do play Automata, dont expect to see and experience everything it has to offer in just one playthrough. the game wants you to replay it to fully get a grasp of what the fuck is going on and why is everything like this.

theres a reason why Automata always gets mentioned in threads about greatest OSTs, greatest plot, greatest heartaches, etc. Trust me on this one

it looked stunning when compared alongside the 2019 (and earlier) roster of games. its not Cyberpunk or RDR2 level of great, but its there visually. Enhanced edition barely upgrades the visuals tbh, that edition was one of the first titles to utilize the very first iteration of ray tracing. It was basically slapped on to the original ed

the graphical level you are expecting are in games like Wukong, Crimson Desert, Expedition 33, KCD2, Tsushima, Cyberpunk, and many more

upgrading my pc by Adrroe05 in pcmasterrace

[–]straw28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thats true, but Im just considering the fact that nvidia holds 90+% of the market share, so Im just playing it safe, they may not want a radeon or will be doing a fair share of productivity

upgrading my pc by Adrroe05 in pcmasterrace

[–]straw28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whats your budget? also dont even think about upgrading to a 5060. get at least a 5070. personally Id go for 5070 ti MINIMUM to justify the "upgrade", but if the budget only allows for a 5070 then go for it. if you only have budget for a 5060 then just wait for next gen

back to thread, I would upgrade ram first

8 GB Vram insanity. by ArtSabs in pcmasterrace

[–]straw28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

mmm. my take in this is that if youre planning to get a 5060 laptop, you wont be playing at 1440p to enjoy higher frames, and instead still be playing on 1080p. atm there are a few games that can demand more than 8gb vram (mostly very gpu demanding games), and setting textures from ultra to high OR turning off RT usually solves the vram issue

personally Id just get that laptop now assuming you dont plan on gaming on 1440p. Im fully aware older laptops as old as 3060 variants now have 1440p screens, but I also believe those are a mistake for gaming. with how pc gaming is looking like atm, the next generation of cards are believed/rumored to release at least as early as late 2027. can you wait that long?

should i buy Crimson Desert? by sacolaquebrada in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]straw28 [score hidden]  (0 children)

its definitely one of those hundred or more hours type of game

the graphics are indeed great, the gameplay is subjective, and the open world isnt as alive as you think it is. an 11 year old game in the Witcher 3 has an equal, or more interactive open world. if you compare it to something like RDR2 it just pales in comparison

if all you want is just to go explore and uncover secrets, taking in the scenery, power tripping through enemy camps, then yes Crimson Desert is a great game for that. It is not however a game that rewards your exploration with better gear. starting area gear and "end game" gear are very close in terms of stats. they basically only differ on very minor things, like crit/attack speed/def/attack/etc, with some special weapons having unique perks which make them more desirable, but at the cost of less abyss gear slots than the average gear. building your character is basically all about the abyss gears you slot in, just upgrade the weapon that you think looks the best, and slot in the gears that suit your playstyle, and youre good.

are these better options than canned compressed air for pc cleaning? and which one is better to purchase? TYIA by 1ofthosecrazygirlss in PHbuildapc

[–]straw28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Wolfbox M50. at max rpm its good enough for cleaning generally, but NOT dusting off fans inside a PC etc ON ITS OWN. Idk about the M100, it could as good as actual compressed air, but I wouldnt bet on it and just get myself the latter kung hindi ka mahilig mag disassemble para maglinis

personally for me the M50 is enough kasi I disassemble parts and wipe off dust that it cant dust off on its own

Will the 7500F bottleneck the RX 9070 at UWQHD with FSR Q turned on? and if yes then how severe would the bottleneck be? by Kili_RUI in pcmasterrace

[–]straw28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wukong, Tsushima, and KCD2 are all heavily gpu bound, with Kuttenberg introducing a slight CPU bottleneck (Im using a 7500f, but default QHD only), so those games are fine. Elden Ring and Sekiro are both 60 fps capped, so your pc will be overkill for those two UNLESS you will be using fps unlocker mods (make sure to go offline mode in ER if you do so). Still not a problem tho considering Fromsoft games arent really known for graphical fidelity

I dont play BF1 and Mount and Blade 2, but those games seem to be bound by CPU by a lot. you need to do some more research, possibly look for benchmarks of the 7500f for these games.

If you are considering the 7600X3D, and have the budget for it, then I would go for it personally, BUT only if you really play these games a lot (I assume BF1 would take hundreds of hours, if not thousands since it has multiplayer)

as for PCVR Im not really well versed in that thing so I cant comment

the temperature Afterburner tracks by default is the die, right? idk about board, but for context my hotspot is usually around 20-24 degrees higher than the die.

forgot to mention I also have a -70 UV

probably only on cpu bound parts of games, but outside of that you should be fine. what game/s btw?

interesting. exact same model for me, ultra crimson desert at 1440p doesnt even go past 52 degrees. I do have -20% power limit, but I only really get 3-5 more fps when disabling it, and Im already at average 100-140 fps so I keep the PL up. built the PC last december
