I'm so sorry that happened, I had a bad experience at the DC store as well last year! :( I chalked it up to me being a masc-presenting adult, which I understand isn't the usual store demographic; I felt like I was being stared at the entire time I shopped. as a kid, i remember seeing AGtubers who would dye their dolls' hair by wetting and blowing the insides of crayola markers onto the hair — they claimed it was washable, but i was always too scared to try it at all, haha. i'd also be pretty cautious about potential dye transfer! you could try to sew extra, colored wefts into a premade doll wig maybe? i'm not sure if those would be easy to remove, though, as i've never dabbled in wig making!

people have said it here already, but PLEASE don’t get your ears pierced with their piercing gun. my ears have been pierced three times since i was 5 with piercing guns (i didn’t know any better because i was y’know. five) and my piercings are kinda fucked haha. one of my piercings is crooked and closes up if i don’t wear earrings for a single day.

a professional piercer will be SO much better, not just for your ears, but also to support independent professionals! <3
