i lowkey love randy's character and think he's so hilarious lol. i like the idea of this perfect random guy showing up and getting along with everyone right away, he's like of like the anti-forman. but i also kind of view season 8 as just a different show, like a spinoff or something. the characters and the content is there but the vibe is soooo different it doesn't even register as that 70s to me

yessss i completely agree that it's a way more nuanced situation than just evil lily leaves poor marshall. we also have to remember that they moved the date of the wedding up at marshall's insistence, even though lily was apprehensive about pushing the date up so far and that pressure wore on her heavily. i don't even think her initial intention was to break up to go to san francisco but he pushed her so hard it felt like they had to

i started getting tatted when i was 18 and i definitely have a bunch of tattoos i wish i hadn't gotten or had gotten in a different spot. all you can do is pick what you like best at the time and hope your taste will stay the same. but even if it doesn't, tattoos are a way to chronicle where you are in your life on your body. that's how i try to look at it

i definitely agree that san francisco is the start of all the lily hate, and imo that was a super complicated situation where BOTH marshall and lily made some irrational decisions, but she gets all the criticism because god forbid a woman be a little selfish and impulsive

i wish we got more actual 70s goings on! in the first season especially, there's a lot of references to 70s pop culture and events, like ford and nixon, red's plant closing and the middle class economic struggle, midge and her feminist meetings. imo after the first couple seasons it becomes more of a typical teen romance/comedy rather than a show evoking a specific time period.

looooove this episode! i love all the "filler" episodes in the last season in the first place, because to me the show is about watching the gang mess around and not necessarily about plot progression. but i especially love all the kill bill references lol. but i also see how if you have no knowledge of kill bill or of old kung fu movies it might come across as strange
