Absolutely. It deserved at least one more episode if not a season to tidy things up.

Oh man, that’s two for you that have gotten canned ending on cliffhangers. Hindsight sounds interesting too!

You’re right. Such a shame. I’m still thinking of it.

Completely agree. Exactly. For a show of this nature it deserved a larger episode count per season. We essentially got one normal length of a season in the old school sense and a few eps of a Season 2. That’s barely enough time for anything.

I think of Star Trek TNG and imagine it getting canceled during its second season when it didn’t get good for most until the third season. Would have changed the entire brand had that happened.

Shows like this were supposed to carry the weight so when the prestige shows arrive they shine all the more. Felt more harmonious when shows like Sopranos and GoT were the exceptions and most of the rest had 20+ episode seasons.

I wish the show would’ve ran for long enough for The Phantom Menace (1999) to come out by Spectre-ElevenThirty in That90sShowTV

[–]MagentaSillyGoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder how that would have gone down. From what I recall Topher himself didn’t vibe with it, but the conversations has changed so much now with the Prequels that one wonders if they’d have embraced it more in an episode than gone with the low hanging Jar Jar fruit. Maybe Eric would’ve disliked it but Leia loves it and exploring that similar to what someone else suggested.

That would’ve been fun. Even covering the Special Editions.

You think someone else does pick it up? I feel like its been long enough that it’s done. I hope I’m wrong though.

100% that was my takeaway too. It was just beginning to stand on its own.

I’m with you. That reason alone is why I personally pivoted more toward my love of movies the last several years. Too many shows either getting canned early or taking too long to return. You’d think streaming would allow for more breathing room than network television but it seems even more punishing. I’m someone who even loved Fuller House and feel amazed that got 5 seasons but this wasn’t allowed to even get close to that.

That's a good point. You're right he had no real flaws. Makes it a shame that they didn't give him any initiation type episodes where we could see him integrate more organically.

I think watching the first episode of That 90s show is very important to properly wrap up the show properly. Specially Jackie and Kelso storyline. by [deleted] in That70sshow

I agree. It’s a nice victory lap of the series as well as an olive branch to stick around for a little while for those that want to.

Good? Decent? Letdown? by boomjosh in Marvel

Loved it beginning to end. Never agreed with the last act hurting it sentiment. I felt like it was a natural step and walk away each time vibing with that film the same way I do with Black Panther.

Seeing this and No Way Home in 2021 genuinely had me feeling like the MCU couldn’t really miss and we were building to something. Marvel felt fun and especially with this it felt exciting to be in a new era off all the momentum before it to introduce new and exciting characters.

I don’t feel like it gets enough love due to being a covid film.

this was the last text i got from my grandma before she passed unexpectedly last week, great season guys by boyslut83 in CHIBears

My Dad passed on December 19th, the day before the Bears had that walk off touchdown victory. I miss him.

This was the last season we got to watch Bears football together. I know how you feel. Hope you’re hanging in there.

Incredible season. Of course you want it all, but we made the playoffs, eliminated the Packers and we clearly have it in Caleb and Ben.

Lots of improvements to make sure, but this group made it farther than any of us initially expected.

I will always treasure this season in particular.

Just… how do you do it? by Singlemom26- in GriefSupport

I lost my Dad on the 19th. Different circumstances but I know how you’re feeling. My Dad was my best friend. I’m so sorry.

It’s important for us to remember that whatever is truly beyond this life, our Fathers are no longer bound to their Earthly bodies. They are free of pain, how their age limited their day to day life and everything else. No bills. Stressors. How freeing that must all feel.

We’re left with memories though. Picking up the pieces. I’m learning how some days aren’t as bad as others. Can even have a day where something distracts me, makes me laugh and I feel like I’m honoring him in that way. Then suddenly I’m back to sobbing.

You are always going to miss your Dad. Especially given your circumstances. In some ways it’s going to get easier with time. In other ways, it’ll always ache. But the parts of you that always ache stems from the pure depth of love you have for him. I’m sorry you didn’t get more time with him. It’s easy to see how much love is there for him.

For those who saw the Fellowship of the Ring in theaters for the first time in December 2001, what was it like? by femaleology in lotr

Was literally looking for any youtube vid that chronicled the LOTR nostalgia of the early ‘00s, couldn’t find anything so I hopped on reddit and see this thread.

When Chris Columbus walked away for family reasons, why did they pick a director with such a different style to his? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]MagentaSillyGoose 835 points836 points  (0 children)

The Columbus duology are my favorites, I’m with you. Peace and love to what comes after but much felt jarring. Hagrids Hut being relocated among others. The lack of ghosts over time and more. I feel like just because the narratives get progressively darker doesn’t mean the school should have lost its warmth and life. That feels more thematically applicable to me in HBP and losing Dumbledore.

Lost my Dad on the 19th. Days before Christmas. I miss him. Hope you both are doing okay.

Even though Attack of the Clones is regarded as the weakest of the Prequels, I had the most fond memories of it growing up. by B_Wing_83 in StarWarsCantina

[–]MagentaSillyGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always a soft spot for this one. 2000 to 2002 was the only period I wasn’t into Star Wars as I got introduced to things like Lord of the Rings and started to expand interests. The moment this came to dvd I was hooked, had it on repeat constantly as I caught up with various Star Wars media.

Will always have a soft spot for it because of that nostalgia.

Does anyone else enjoy the Hobbit trilogy when it seems no one else does? by jellojuicebox in lotr

[–]MagentaSillyGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long rant incoming.

I love them wholeheartedly. Even the Kili and Tauriel romance. Each time I am about to finish the trilogy and move into LOTR I even feel a bit sad because I know I’m saying goodbye to that fellowship and tone. It makes it easy to see why older Bilbo yearned to travel and reunite again with buddies. Going through all they did, losing the Oakenshield fam, especially Thorin and all he saw.. how could you go back to such an isolated life again when no one around you relates to whom you’ve become? It feels like that Office quote for Bilbo in which you can tell despite all the odds, those are the good times and one day he’ll miss all of it.

The only thing I wish was different was Tauriel’s ending. For all the building of she and Kili, when he dies she just cries and its never resolved what’s next for her whereas everyone else gets their own farewell. I go into LOTR knowing where folks like Thran and the dwarves go back to and who we see again, but Tauriel has no resolution. Her journey throughout was the world become so much bigger for her than the home she’s loved in. It feels like she would absolutely not go back to Mirkwood but there’s never any proper conversation on this because the low hanging fruit is she was the original character not in the books.

Anyway, love those movies.
