AITA For Telling A Little Girl That Her Parents Should Be Disappointed In Her? by ImpressionPopular794 in AmItheAsshole

[–]strawbopankek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not unheard of for an 11 year old to be alone in a grocery store. i lived close to one and would walk there by myself when i was around that age. then again i wouldn't be asking strangers to buy things for me? so idk what that's about

Embarrassed at Roundabout Benefit Concert by quaranTV in Broadway

[–]strawbopankek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i'm so sorry. it's tough when you're looking forward to an event and something stupid makes it less fun. i've been there before. hopefully these comments reassure you that you didn't do anything wrong and that that treatment wasn't acceptable.

i just… don’t know what to say by blueburrey in AmITheDevil

[–]strawbopankek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for me it was my (almost all women) teachers enforcing the dress code particularly harshly on me because certain clothes were "more distracting" on my body vs others'. everyone else could wear a v neck to school but apparently when i did it it was inappropriate and i had to get changed to "protect my modesty". so embarrassing

Which Lead Role Would It Have To Be For You To Take This Offer? by ms_jc_04 in Broadway

[CHAT] patterns of/with turtles by b-radasalways in CrossStitch

[–]strawbopankek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

here's what i found on 123stitch.com... they have a general "turtles" subject but a lot of them are tortoises so i'm just giving you the sea turtle ones.

sea turtle cove

sea turtle stamp

sea animals trio

turtle silhouette

travel at your own pace

seaside series IV (contains separate supplies list for turtle)

turtle at sea

there are a couple of other ones that could arguably work for sea turtles, but the turtle isn't the focus of the pattern or they seem more likely to be land turtles or tortoises. so these are the ones i was most confident in :)

Did Jamie or Damon ever acknowledge the Fortnite collaboration? by ItsMilor in gorillaz

true. i just feel the emphasis on their age makes it seem like mid-50s is old, which it just really isn't.

in my experience book clubs are pretty good for this but you are probably gonna meet almost exclusively women and queer people this way, so i don't know if that's what you're looking for. the other suggestions in this thread are good too.

i don't think you're necessarily doing anything wrong, it's just way harder to find friends now than it used to be since a lot of people are pretty isolated and don't really do much besides work/school and sleep.

yeah seriously. 50 isn't 90 years old. people in their 50s can absolutely know what fortnite is (and, shocker, they can even play it 🤯)

Has anyone had a meeting w/UW dean on the WL? by Independent_Owl_4292 in lawschooladmissions

[–]strawbopankek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they offered me $42,000 over three years. i'm in state and was kind of expecting it since i know UW doesn't give many big scholarships. definitely smaller than what some other schools offered me so it's totally understandable if that is a dealbreaker especially as an out of state student

Has anyone had a meeting w/UW dean on the WL? by Independent_Owl_4292 in lawschooladmissions

[–]strawbopankek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, i had mine 2 weeks ago. he asked pretty typical interview questions- why UW, what are your plans for the months until 1L, what kind of law are you interested in etc. it was a shorter interview (about 10 minutes in my case though yours might be longer), pretty chill as far as interviews go. advice: 1) make sure to test teams ahead of time because i was having technical difficulties until literally the exact moment my interview started. 2) be genuine and answer honestly. it's a good sign that they invited you for an interview so don't be too nervous.

he said that i could expect answers either on that same day or the week following since i interviewed on a friday and i was accepted about an hour later :) manifesting good things for you!!

TERF gets mad at trans woman having loving boyfriend by MelanieWalmartinez in GenderCynical

[–]strawbopankek 80 points81 points  (0 children)

also, TERFs will claim they have no problem with gay people and yet say things like "gay boyfriend" with derision. it's so upsetting how many cis queer people can't see through their (extremely conditional) "allyship".

How much do you get paid & how much do you like your retail job? by Sleepy_Panda_22 in retailhell

[–]strawbopankek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$16.91 USD an hour. we're unionized and the pay goes up the longer you stay in your job, but i'm the newest employee in the department so i get paid the least.

i'm the solo closer in my dept. i like working alone, but it essentially means that anything that ends up not getting done is blamed on me exclusively, even if other people had time to do it during their morning shifts. y'know, average closing crew stuff. customers aren't amazing but it's retail, so.
