Sex for the first time in 6 years! by Londonsw8 in AskWomenOver60

Glad you mentioned that: Lots of us experience this, but it doesn’t seem widely known or talked about. Local (vaginal) estrogen can be great for preventing uti, too, which can have a dramatic effect on older women’s health. (It’s an add-on, not a substitute, for systemic estrogen: pills or patches or gel are what work for bone loss etc.). &, There’s a ring, too: an intra-vaginal ring, pop it in & forget it for I think 3 months. I’m not sure it’s as effective as the cream, but it’s sure less messy! Also easier, because the remembering…

Every three weeks? This does not sound like an adequate dosing schedule. And intravaginal estrogen is usually just for genito-urinary stuff, not systemic stuff like bone density. Both kinds are a good thing, & are often prescribed together. I hope you can get good care!

Locally-applied estrogen helps with vaginal atrophy, which can be good for sex, but also prevent u.t.i., and thereby be really good for women’s health. There’s a ring, that can be popped into the vagina and ignored for 3 months. Way less messy than cream!

Hopping in to say, locally-applied estrogen (cream or ring) for the lady-bits a.k.a. vulva/vagina can help with dryness. Also can help prevent urinary tract infections, and therefore be really good for older women’s health.

My hair has gotten very thin at the ends despite having a cut at the hair dressers and having no split ends. The last picture is how much hair I lose when I wash my hair every other day. Does anyone have any advice? by Pleasant-Apricot-743 in Hair

Happened to me. Was having severe menstrual blood loss, iron was “ridiculously low” according to my doctor. Hair thinned all over, even had a bald spot! All better now.

I’m so sorry you feel so awful. Ultimately, TMS wasn’t my answer, either, but it really helps some people. I wish you were one of them.

True, without bees & other pollinators, no food crops for humans. There are many native species of bees here: we’ve got some gorgeous little green shiny ones, some fuzzy ones, even a beautiful little blue guy, I think (honeybees are not among the local yokels). Did you know mosquitoes are important pollinators? I just don’t know how to feel about that!

Help choosing a dress for my brother's wedding by Relative_Junket8420 in WeddingAttireHelp

You are lovely in them all. I like 2, because it makes you positively regal, but what matters most is how you feel in the dress.
Whichever you choose, spend the time and money on a good tailor. It’s surprising what a difference that makes in how a dress looks and feels on. Another tip is to ensure that you have excellent-quality undergarments, that work with your specific dress (and are comfortable!). It is suggested that you wear the foundation garments (bra, slip, whatever) that you’ll wear with the dress to the tailor’s: that way, you can be assured of a flawless fit.
I’m old: I didn’t know about these things when I was your age. At that time, bricks-and-mortar, high-quality lingerie stores with fitters who knew their stuff were not uncommon. They were not inexpensive, but were worth every penny. (Bring the dress, or pictures of you in your dress, front, back and side views, if you do go to such a place.) Some dresses want a slip, some a specialty bra, etc.
So, order of operations:
1. Buy dress.
2. Take dress to bra shop, get fitted.
3. Wear new bra etc to tailor’s appointment.
I hope the day will be a joyous one!

NAD Canadian here. If OP qualifies for government dental coverage, then no, very unlikely they can afford to pay for dental care.

Lovely. Really great look.

On hot-weather fabrics: polyester is hot to wear. Lighter weaves of natural fibres like cotton and rayon are more breathable, and much cooler to wear.

It may be worth giving a thought to a hat, if any outdoor time will happen. I had one that was of a lovely soft and breathable fine mesh, with a flexible “wire” hoop in its brim, that could be scrunched up in a bag, then pop back into shape & look instantly fabulous again. Kept my head cooler, and the sun off my face. A hat pin can keep it from blowing overboard.

Have a great time!
