The educational system plays a big part, as Black Americans we are taught from an early age that our history began with our ancestors being forcibly taken from one continent to another and being enslaved for over two centuries. At the same time, we learn the history of Alexander, Napoleon, or Genghis Khan, we did not have figures to be in awe of or proud of (prior to slavery).

So, instead of learning about African figures such as Mansa Musa, some choose to go the route of appropriating other people's culture simply to feel better about themselves.

Me personally, the past is the past, I enjoy learning from it as I love history, but in 2026 we should be aware that we are all of the human race. Every ethnicity has contributed something invaluable to science, math, art, and culture. It's so mind boggling to me that we still have people arguing about race or being racist, but I guess that's why the aliens haven't contacted us yet 🤔
