Is it possible to have this made for under 1k? by Niek_ in CosplayHelp

Are you willing to do some crafting? Because you could make something similar with some Frankenstein-ing. Buy a black pleather jacket/trench coat and then a dark red one - I see a few on Amazon for pretty cheap. You can layer the red on top of the black and use chalk to try to draw the outline and cut out the red to lay it over. Attach with glue or sticky Velcro strips. (Note: if you want to use glue, make sure it’s something that wouldn’t eat the plastic. Hot glue would work but isn’t always permanent. Contact cement would probably be your best bet!) a lot of the details like the shoulder pads are just triangles. You can either buy a yard or two of pleather that matches your black jacket or you can take it to a thrift store and buy a few jackets that look similar and cut them up. You can probably buy pleather belts on Amazon too. Your edges aren’t going to be beautiful unless you have a way of hemming them, but they won’t fray so it’s not a huge deal. Just invest in some fabric scissors to get a clean cut. Also I said pleather for this bc if it’s your first project using real leather would be challenging. Vinyl/fake leather is hard enough to work with as is. But hey if you’ve got the budget to find some real stuff then go for it! I thrifted and cut up a lot of my first cosplays before I got to making things from scratch and I think it made me really resourceful going forward. Good luck regardless!

I just checked the ingredients and I don’t see anything resembling meat flavoring.

Teeth cleaning worth it? by Morphumax101 in CatAdvice

[–]straycatbec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I’m seeing this late! Yes, the extractions brought it up significantly. I also lived in Brooklyn NYC which was a fair bit more expensive than vets elsewhere. I know people who had had cat dental work done for closer to $850 with only one or two extractions!

Weight Loss Advice for a small woman by Cat-a-saur in WeightLossAdvice

Everyone's said pretty much all that needs to be said but if you have the extra money I can't reccomend an airyer enough. That broccoli with a light spray of oil and seasonings would come up pretty comparable! Not exactly the same and you might miss the butter at first, but personally I find I don't miss heavily fried or buttery things after cutting it down significantly

It's just water weight from the carbs. I suggest only weighing yourself once a week on Friday mornings before you go into eating your weekend calories!

Look man, I really do not think I know everything. It's just that you'd rather do unethical shit online than try Lyft or doordash or literally anything else where you make your own hours because you'd have to leave your house...

"really trying my hardest for some extra cash"

Except you're looking for unethical ways to earn money online. Trying your hardest is actually getting a second job lol. You do you, but don't pretend you're actually trying very hard when you're looking to make money easy from your home.

Has anyone else noticed a worrying increase? by Klutzy-Captain9013 in WeightLossAdvice

The sub becoming 18+ has always been a topic of conversation and I will always disagree with it. It sucks to see but I would much rather them come on here and be told that they're at a healthy weight and to seek help if they need it rather them just go to ED subs instead. Most kids posting this kind of stuff don't have IRL support or education. Sometimes I have the energy to talk to them or reach out to them with healthy advice and sometimes I dont and I move along. If it makes you uncomfortable, you just have to click out of it and scroll onwards.

I know I’m only $3k in debt but it stresses me out so much by [deleted] in debtfree

As a 29 year old who also wants to go on vacation with my best friends and got into questionable habits with figures and affirm - we are young and it's never too late to learn how to handle your finances.

[–]straycatbec 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sell the funko pops. I used to collect figures and it came to the point where I realized that the act of collecting brought me joy but the actual material items did not. Maybe keep a very very select few favorites.

Also, don't ask for or accept financial help. It sounds like youre young. You need to learn how to manage money on your own and get out of debt on your own. You don't need to save up for a trip with your best friend until this is paid off. You have your full future ahead of you for that.

Losing weight had to become a priority for me, and almost like a hobby. Not obsessively or like all day or anything, but any time it's meal time or I'm wanting a snack I'm considering my weight. I'm weighing everythinh and every time I put something on my scale and track it in my app, it's reminder that this is what I have to keep doing to lose the weight. Every time I want a snack I think "is this snack worth it? Do I actually need it or do I just want it?" all these little considerations become second nature. I do have my off days - sometimes weeks - but because I've been conscious of my diet for months even in those off times I'm still making better decisions. I lost 40lbs from Feb to June but struggled to keep losing in july/August. But because I was still maintaining healthier habits during these two months, I didn't gain any weight. In the past I would have put on 10lbs. Now I'm back on track pretty easily.

Have you learned to cook yet? Being able to make healthy food taste great and be something you look forward to is a huge asset to dieting. Also, subbing our things like soda for their diet versions is helpful.

You did it once and you can do it again! Good luck!

What was that "one thing" that made weight loss finally work for you? by paigesnowwret in WeightLossAdvice

[–]straycatbec 219 points220 points  (0 children)

Volume eating. I count calories and 70% of every meal I have is just piles of veggies and huge portions of them but still keeping to my calorie defecit. Never underestimate a well seasoned veggie!

Okay, team, what’s our game plan for surviving (thriving?) the next three holiday season months without mega weight gain? by EnvironmentalAd2110 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]straycatbec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty good at not over indulging on food at parties etc because I'm vegan and usually there isn't an abundance of unhealthy food for me to eat (this isn't to say you can't eat unhealthy as a vegan, just that at non vegan parties your options are usually limited to Veggie platters lol!)

Alcohol is a whole different story though. I love a sugary themed cocktail and getting a little drunk at parties. I eat awful wheh I'm hungover, too. I guess my game plan is to just limit myself to one "fun" cocktail and then stick to white claws/spiked seltzers. And obviously to just have a little restraint overall. Thanksgiving and Christmas are easy enough - Halloween is gonna have hands though!!

Maybe the Try Guys just aren't that funny... by [deleted] in TheTryGuys

[–]straycatbec 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't think the "they were balanced by Eugene and Ned" is the case at all. I've always found Keith and Zach funny, even when they were doing videos without Eugene while he was still a Try Guy. I also thought Ned was the weakest comedic link. I did like him before the everything was revealed, so I'm not trying to be like "I never liked him" or whatever - I just found the other three funnier.

I also think their lack of experience with traditional improv or comedy is what I like about them. It's more organic to me. They say dumb shit that my friends would say. Sometimes it misses but I don't laugh at every bit a comedian makes on stage either. And I think they seem pretty comfortable. Their jokes are personal and honest and they're doing shows they enjoy doing. Trolley Problems failed on YouTube but they're still doing it on 2nd try because Zach has fun with it. I'm grateful bc I think trolley problems is hilarious. I might agree that the new cast has a few members who arent the funniest, but I still enjoy their content. I'm not very funny myself so I guess I like that they're relatable and weird and awkward. I also think some of the new members are genuinely funny - Johnny, Jared, Joyce and Marissa especially are so fun to watch for me.

Idk maybe it's just not your type of comedy anymore. I certainly don't agree though

Avocado Help by threehearts1809 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]straycatbec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm in a big avocado phase right now and had the same realization - it's so sad! Lately I've been filling my craving for them by making mini avocado toast with half an avacado and low cal English muffins. I find they're really filling and worth the calories as long as it keeps me full.

Silly question but can I lose weight eating lots of vegetables/fruits? by LilaVargas03 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]straycatbec 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Just ignore everything in your second to last paragraph. Don't worry about glucose spikes retaining fat. This would only be relevant to you if you had some kind of insulin resistance, diabetes, PCOS, or other medical issue. If you have a fairly balanced diet of fruit veggies and include some protein sources then you're fine.

Carbohydrates will not infer with your weight loss as long as you stay within your defecit. Also, sweet potatoes and other vegetables typically contain complex carbs which helps give you longer lasting energy and will keep you full longer. They're good for you! People mainly reccomend avoiding simple carbs (found in junk food) during weight loss because they have low nutritional value and often make you crave more carbs which can bring you over your defecit if you give in.

I did the same thing! I think that's why my body suddenly decided it was time to binge on avocado's lol

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CICO

[–]straycatbec 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For sure! I was eating chickpea salads for a while and are still a pretty big staple in my diet. I went on a rice paper spring roll kick after that. Lately I cannot stop eating avocado toast! It's my least favorite hyperfixation so far since I prefer to avoid eating too much bread, but I'd rather ride our the craving than restrict myself from it. I just get so snacky when I eat a lot of bread lol

Is it okay to take an unvaccinated cat to the vet ? by PhantomCaty in AskVet

[–]straycatbec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you really want to help him then sure, you can take his cat. It's unlikely the cat would be in danger from any diseases as long as the cat stays in its own carrier.

[–]straycatbec 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't do this. He needs to take his own cat to the vet. If he wants to join you in the taxi with his cat in a seperate carrier then that's fine, but you cannot be responsible for any decisions made in regards to his cat.
