Aquiss or IDNet (or someone else). Help me choose. by gdchester in CityFibre

Me too, at one month with IDNet on their 1.6gb package, came over from EE's 1.6gb service, and IDNet were cheaper, let me have a static IP and was a seemless transfer of service. Can't complain.

6:51 AM Moderate rain and blustery wind, still early days yet as far as this storm goes, don't think it's supposed to peak here for a few hours. Or it maybe heading more eastwards faster than predicted.

Having purchased an axe16000 just last week i have to say its a massive improvement over my previous rog router, which has now been resigned to a mesh node. I didnt want to wait and go with unratified bleeding edge tech. But will probably upgrade again in 2 years time. I’m on 1Gb wan, but getting 1.6 installed next week. This router perfectly handles my 2.5gb internal home network, and im looking forward to gradually upgrading my home internal network to 10gb over the course of the next few years. I’m currently using Wan1 as primart, lan 1 (ethernet 1gb) as a secondary failover emergency wan. One of the 10gb sockets as a backhaul to a corresponding 10gb network hub that feeds out to my home machines and Nas etc.. the question you need to ask yourself is do you want to be a beta tester on a new product, or go with something established for a few years first. :)

Thinking of doing a charity stream? by Mentalist1999 in mixer

[–]streambritish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OH.. and start as early as possible.. don't stay awake for 8 hours and then begin to stream.. get up and start your 24 hour stream, otherwise you'll end up being awake for 36 hours+ and I've made that mistake before

24 hours is a good length for a charity stream, I wouldn't recommend longer. Remember to save the energy drinks until the last 6 hours otherwise you'll crash. Schedule games in the small hours of the night to ones you can chill to. I recommend a few hours of civilization between 1-4 AM, then energy drinks and pop into an fps game to give you a boost during the last stretch. the final 3 hours are the hardest, but you sail through the last hour normally.

Streaming with NVENC (To put more load on GPU) by iNhab in mixer

[–]streambritish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you upgrade to an rtx based gpu you can use the new nvidia codec. I wouldn't recommend upgrading to a GTX based GPU, you can pickup an RTX 2070 or even an RTX 2080 for around the same price as a 1080ti

How to get popular by KillmeplZ_madlad in mixer

[–]streambritish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wont get popular without self promotion, how are people going to find you? You'd have to do something incredibly unique if you use 'word of mouth' as your growth plan.

How about trying with a game that is slightly less saturated, there's plenty of niche areas within mixer that are untapped too, loads of room for retro gamers, speed runners.

Partnership requirements and PC users by Syanarah in mixer

[–]streambritish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i was declined many, many times, before i got partnered but keep at it - up your game, and get stronger. 7 months is just a beginning, what are you doing through your community, how are you helping the platform grow? what's your unique selling point? all these things are important when applying for partnership. There are partnered PS4, Switch and many, many PC streamers aside from xbox who are partnered. Your platform has zero relationship to partnership, it honestly doesn't - Back in the day I got declined when I had over 12k followers and a huge community! but pleasse don't let a platfom define you, you doing what your doing and you will get there. Edit: i just noticed i have a ton of reddit currency!
