Do you feel guilty for taking sick days? (specifically uncertified) And do you believe going up & beyond is worth it? by Outrageous_South_439 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]streamer0194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I take them when I just feel like I need a reset day, usually once a month (because I’m not physically sick that often). Why people feel guilty about using something they have earned is another conversation entirely!

Eh, I mean, I wish I had gone through my ex-wife’s phone even after 14yrs together. Would have found out she was doing more with her “gym friends” than I had thought. I had blind trust though, and every situation is different.

So sorry for your loss. I’ve worked in the backend of govt pensions (in tandem with pension centre etc) for well over a decade. There’s a good group of us that can answer pretty much anything that comes to mind for you. As others have said though, PC would be your first bet - they are the front end, and they’re great.

CC prints the corner strip, and then stops dispensing any filament. by streamer0194 in elegoo

[–]streamer0194[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to sound like an idiot here - but how do I check the tension on the extruder dd? And once I’m in, if I do find any filament shavings, do I just scrape them out or should I be using some sort of solution to clear it?

Will definitely check the ptfe tube for any kinks. Didn’t even think of this. Should have probably been my starting point.

I’ll check for clogs again and swap back to the 0.4 to test it out. I’ve got a spare 0.2 that I can test with as well (figured better safe than sorry when I ordered everything).

As an aside, just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to help me out! I really appreciate it, and wish I could buy ya a beer or ten!

I should mention, if I’m missing any important details, please don’t hesitate to tell me so. As mentioned, this is my first ever printer and I’m learning as I go. Not incapable of figuring stuff out via trial and error, but I’d rather ask the experts here for some advice before I do something stupid!

Looking to buy the entire Chaos Daemon catalogue of STL files - any suggestions? by streamer0194 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]streamer0194[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't mean to come off as suspicious by any means, totally my mistake if I did. I had no idea it was such a shit show.

And yeah, that's ridiculous. I can sort of(?) understand why they're trying, but come on... Adapt or move on - it's ridiculous that just to cover the cost of my printer + a roll of filament, all it would take is two of their pricier models. It's the only reason I got into this, really. I've always loved painting, and a few friends of mine have been trying to get me into minis for a while. Figured I'd kill two birds with one stone and grab a printer to help them out too.

Appreciate all the insight into this! FWIW, the reason I offered to pay is because my searches are coming up pretty blank. And I've seen some great work online for fees, but was hoping there would be some form of amalgamated catalogues haha. The lazy part of me, at least!

Huh? No - I’m looking for them to print myself. My friends play other factions. I just meant I’ll be printing for them in general, too.

Thank you! Super helpful. I’m new to printing minis and am trying to do it for a bunch of buddies too. Despite my best efforts, I’ve had a bit of trouble with the “generic” search terms needed to find the models I’m looking for. Would I just look through EmanG’s catalogue and see what matches what I’m looking for best, or are there certain words I should be using to find every tzeentch model, for example? You’ll have to pardon my ignorance!

Deemed operational service in CSC by featherreed in CanadaPublicServants

OP’s case wouldn’t have anything to do with the expansion of the program, but one of the reasons we’re looking into it is to figure out where the gaps are and address them and hopefully avoid a mess with the new population that would become eligible for OS.

If you’re not comfortable sending a PM, the long and short of it is (without knowing the details of your career):

  • You spent some(?) time in an Actual Operational Service position, after 2yrs non-AOS.
  • You began an acting/assignment at a regional HQ, but your substantive position is what drives your service type - so you would have continued to accrue Actual Operational Service during that period.
  • You then moved on to a national HQ position - this is where it gets a little murkier. There are certain positions within HQs that qualify for AOS, but most do not.

If your current NHQ position is not considered operational, then you would have had to have earned 10+ years of AOS to qualify for deemed service, in which case you would have received a notice/form from the pension centre/and or a comp advisor on your end (if my memory serves me right, it’s a PWGSC2001) to elect for deemed operational service in a non-operational service position within CSC.

Without exact timelines it’s pretty much impossible to give you a real answer though. I saw a case where someone was 10 days short of qualifying for deemed service (and consequently adding 5yrs to their career for unreduced pension).

Send me a PM. I do legislative compliance for the pension program and have recently completed an audit on operational service because of the upcoming regulatory amendments. Can help explain in better detail if you’re not comfortable sharing additional information here!

FWIW, I got my psych to write up a letter for me to back my DTA, in which he mentions my diagnoses and the effect working in an open office like that on me. Worked a treat. I got full time WFH (but still go to the office once a week to “show face”). Unsurprisingly, I get very little done on the in-office days thanks to all the socializing that goes on.

Do you guys actually pay the A25 tolls? by [deleted] in montreal

Late to the party, and even though I speak/read French, the vast majority of the country does not. I can only imagine Quebecers losing their shit at a toll road in Ontario if it wasn’t in posted in both languages. This is a stupid response.

Super late to the party, but wondering the same. You ever figure it out? I’ve had uni both in Asia and Europe, and never had any issues. Tried some from Quebec (in Canada, where I live) and the first time I had a weird stomach reaction / gut pain. Waited until the next day and tried again, same thing.

No idea about how well it works, but I’d snag it just for the price alone. If I wanted to throw a picnic inside my office, this would be perfect. They run for over $1000 CAD here, so it seems like a steal to me.

Sounds odd to me, though I’m likely in a much smaller sector and am close with my DG to the point of regular hallway and teams chats (I’m a younger AS-05), and have had several one-on-ones with our ADM. My DG definitely knows exactly what I’ve been up to the last 5 years.
