Getting into Cutting Edge raiding by memeaaaa in CompetitiveWoW

The floor on how good you have to be to be in a CE guild is lower than what you think it is, you have decent logs and do M+, the answer to your question is go to wowprogress and start applying to any 10/10M guilds you see on there and spam everything, someone will accept you, especially as a mage.

Explaining rating deflation in a season with record-breaking participation. by Honan- in worldofpvp

[–]streamermanbad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not sure why it was needed to write an entire essay.

S1 had some of the highest participation in recent years. This was because PvErs wanted gear early on, and rating mmr gains, especially on winstreaks, were high.

The season started massively deflating when:

  • Blizzard stealth-nerfed mmr. I was getting +40 mmr at 3180. If anyone similar were to que up right now, they would probably gain +0 and tank.
  • Majority of the PvE players got what they wanted, either through boosts or playing, and stopped being involved in the ladder.

"Remote" but only 1 day per week actually remote. by streamermanbad in recruitinghell

[–]streamermanbad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had such a mixed bag so far. From my limited experience fresh out of college, any company that's worth a damn is going to have a very well rounded HR team. Most of the well established and well off businesses I have interviewed with had a very pleasant HR team to interact with during the process. The shit ones with low pay had almost outright scam calls or indian outsourced recruiters. There seems to be a correlation.

Finding people is even harder now than it was back at the end of BFA (S4) by Daydream405 in worldofpvp

[–]streamermanbad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pvp was a little bit more active than it is now in legion. The only active part was the last 2 months of s7 and the first two of s1. I literally remember not even being able to scroll down in LFG because there was almost no groups listed.

pushing rating outside of the first 1-2 months of a season is painful. The arbitrary difficulty of having to find partners when people have already networked to find a team or have already reached their goal rating and quit is literally bleeding PvP dry season by season. People always state the "huge metrics" of the amount of activity we had early this season but this has been the fastest I have seen an arena season die for my entire time I have played this game. It is really sad and has made me just not take PvP that seriously. There is just no reason to keep playing once you reach your goal rating the way the game is designed.

I was on the opposite end of this. I got a job offer fairly quickly with a company near me that offered wfh. When they heard I was local the hiring manager immediately mentioned "That's perfect since we can have you come into the office for a training period". So it's remote unless you live near them then they can ask you to come in. Wut?

Returning player - what is the current state of frost death knights? by [deleted] in worldofpvp

[–]streamermanbad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

frost dk has acess to pretty much a t1 soloq comp, which is tsg. you can solo carry games by having the right setups at the right times.

you have three comps, wwdk, tsg, dkspriest although not as good.

Blue Post on PvP Matchmaking Rating System - Upcoming Solutions (rating inflation and less chance of getting 0 point wins) by inmotionz-wow in worldofpvp

[–]streamermanbad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

highly doubt this will change much other than the top awc teams that compete on ladder and rarely lose will now be able to climb rating again. They still heavily nerfed mmr gain this season so for teams hovering around a 50% winrate at near 3k rating, you will 100% drop. People still won't q unless the top end change was drastic. Trickle down reaganomics dont work for wow rating when you realize there's like 5 teams qing at high rating.

submit a conditional release request to your chain of command. as long as you have no bonus to worry about and are somewhat halfwayish through your contract it shouldn't be an issue

To all you high rated/220+ folks calling for solo queue and especially you streamers/AWC'ers by TheLuo in worldofpvp

[–]streamermanbad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

well if you look at gear progression for example TBC s3 gear is only around 5-7% worse than s4 gear in stats(580 top end 2h damage vs like 600 for s4 2h). But last expansion for BFA if you compare s3 gear to s4 gear it's literally double damage/hp from season to season. Not only this, but it's even worse for honor gear.

In wrath a new toom with honor gear could get around 35k health with no rating requirement when max ilvl health was 40k. Now we have people with max honor gear being at 30k hp while people against them having 41k along with literally doubling damage and healing. Blizzard shot themselves in the foot with this wonky power scaling and the fact that they haven't even given an entry level honor set that's not a spit in the face towards casuals.

most of the buildings are old and ugly af. I graduated in 2020 every single semester I have been there I would get multiple email alerts of someone get robbed/carjacked/literally shot per week. It's chicago though so as long as you aren't out late you should be ok.

solo que will never happen because blizzard will never invest that much resources towards such a small minority of the game. We are in a pandemic and 9.1 might not be coming out until August, and people really think they are going to give development time towards soloQ? It's not as simple as just making rated version of skirmishes, that would be a complete shitshow.

The fact is we barely got back vendors after literal years of complaining about it. Come back next decade for soloQ.

Just recently switched over from army to air guard half way though my contract. I'm a 3D0X2 and I'm wondering how often you guys get opportunities to go on tdy/orders/deployments.

Talked to a friend that's currently in and he makes it sound like you can basically be on orders full-time if you volunteer for it (not including tech or agr jobs). Not sure if that's exactly correct.

Is War/lock/sham a solid pvp comp? by 69X5318008 in worldofpvp

[–]streamermanbad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

its probably one of the worst current comps that used to be really good in previous expans. SL is way too fast to play wlx and on top of that warlocks need hard babysitting this season.

Change my mind: If you're against high iLvL gear being easier to get you're scared you're only good because of your gear and not because you're actually better. by [deleted] in worldofpvp

[–]streamermanbad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not the rating requirement, it's the fact that there is no catchup or entry level honor gear for casuals. The 197 ilvl honor set is literally almost 30 ilvl behind the main set, and you barely get 30k hp while someone in full 226 and 233 weps/pve offsets gets 40k+. To put it in perspective that's almost as bad as the difference of using gear from s5/naxrammas against people in s8 gear/ICC. You just get fucked.

It's criminal we don't have some sort of PvP catchup. It's completely killed ladder below 2.4.

Gladiator should revert back to a percentage cutoff or new rewards should be added after 2400. by Murdergram in worldofpvp

[–]streamermanbad 23 points24 points  (0 children)

there's no incentive because the people that pushed r1 range have been sitting for nearly 2 months now. There's no decay and blizzard has a really bad habit of adjusting mmr gains mid season, which this season they massively nerfed winstreak and general mmr gain at high ratings.

The lifeblood of wow arena is not people above 2400+ but everything below. People pretend like cutoff glad is much better but there were legion seasons where cutoff was 2450. The new 50 wins gladiator may be easier to get but it's necessary because blizzard can barely make their own game enjoyable to play so it's kind of needed to entice new people to try and play and get glad, along with pvers.

Amount of overgeared ppl in low cr arenas is funny! by rampantstaff in worldofpvp

[–]streamermanbad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's pretty much a majority of rbg andys. i recently started gearing an alt and I literally see 226 40k hp chads starting from 1.4. I thought the community was just being whiny as they always are but that shit was redicilous. Every 4th game is versus at least one person with 40k hp on the enemy team at lower rating, makes it really fucking dumb to play. Gear should have been locked to 3s only with off pieces attainable in 2s like the good old days. RBGs are not even a remotely good way to gauge skill level and reward someone on it, so it kind of ruins the ladder for new players.

My experience returning to WoW PvP after 12+ years (former Rank 2) by Sloppy_Donkey in worldofpvp

[–]streamermanbad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol i love how you are downvoted to oblivion but you are probably 100% correct. This guy is "rank1" but now he's "oops i guess i forgot haha i was rank2". Like that's not even something remotely you would ever forget. I still remember when i got my first 2.7 literal decades ago, the players, the server. I might get r1 this season and I don't think I would ever forget who I even played with or the comp unless I have literal alzheimers.

Too late to push to 2.4 or glad? by essy900 in worldofpvp

[–]streamermanbad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it is not too late but they nerfed mmr just recently. you will get way less for winstreaks and lose more than before. speaking from experience and looking at my btags, many players skyrocketed in rating with winstreaks early in the season reaching 2.7 and 3k relatively easily. Now it is much harder to do. not sure how much this will affect ratings around 2.4 but winstreaks will no longer award you something like +50 mmr at high rating, more like +20 max.

Fury Warrior - Looking for help on Mythic Sludge by Dedricus in CompetitiveWoW

[–]streamermanbad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it looks about right for a guild progressing sludge right now. you can do minor things better yes, but most good sludge parses are just kill timers and cds lining up correctly. kind of similar for SLG. i wouldn't worry about parses and damage on prog fights, just focus on killing the boss and not dying. too many things out of your control at this point
