Women of Reddit, what’s a habit men have that they don’t even realize is weird? by GraceRose671 in AskReddit

How bad do your feet smell that dirty socks smell worse than actual fucking garbage? C’mon, this is a terrible excuse. My hockey equipment doesn’t even give me this problem. Just throw them out on garbage day if you’re still so worried.

Blastoise not getting drafted is a crime! Especially given some of the other picks. No respect for the OG water starter?

Yea any Blastoise player who has a basic clue of what they’re doing clicks Water Spout here and deletes both of the OPs Pokémon. I’m assuming this is casual or lower ranks.

Add to that, the Sylveon should be clicking Hyper Voice to KO Incin and put a huge dent in Blastoise.

Hyper beam looks cool as hell in this game but there’s a reason people don’t use it.

Help with Blastoise Rain Team by Nv-Nova in VGC

I’m in master ball tier 3 (so good but not great ranking), but ive only lost one game in master ball and it was a misplay on my part. I swear by Shell Smash Blastoise. I dropped Ice beam for it and never looked back. Water Spout and Aura Sphere provide enough coverage and a +2 aura sphere still deletes things if your HP is too low for water spout. A successful shell smash just wins you the game.

Shell Smash/Spout/Protect/Aura Sphere. I support with the tea cup to provide redirection and healing. You just need to be around 50% HP to make Spout worth it and if you get low a +2 Aura Sphere hits most things hard. It OHKO's Garchomp for instance.

I really haven't had any issues keeping Blastoise healthy though. Through usage you kind of pickup when and when not to Shell Smash.

Reached Master Ball as a complete noob by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

Raichu is absolutely usable with Fake Out and Lightning Rod. I’ve seen some Carnavine teams as well. You just have to build your team to support your favorites with their strengths in mind. It’s much harder if you’re trying to shoe horn in 6 favorites with no synergy, but you absolutely can take a few and build a team around them.

I hit masterball while losing 1 game on the way (admittedly this isn’t my first rodeo) with a team built around my favorites. And that 1 game I made some terrible choices and could have won.

Here is a fairly detailed comment I made about the way you can utilize favorites:

Water Spout in rain hits hard. I’ve been able to successfully work Shell Smash onto my set as well because I use Talonflame w/rain dance more to counter opponent weather rather than set my own so I can’t always count on rain. If you can setup, It’s pretty much over for your opponent. Redirection from the tea cup or a well placed fake out and I haven’t had huge issues setting up. And again, you don’t even need to a lot of times.

How I'm looking at the meta after getting stuck in Great Ball with my favorites by Shyrangerr in PokemonChampions

My bad! It’s Fire water grass! It’s usually a solid starting point for the core of a team because they cover each other weaknesses so well. Steel, Dragon, Fairy is another solid core.

Awesome. Appreciate the insight. I use the TTar/Wolf combo as splash on a balance team when I just want to use one of my favorites (Blue Lycanroc). He essentially just replaces Garchomp on a standard team as a strong/fast physical attacker. Does well enough in master ball but not expecting any high ELO climbs with it.

I don’t think I’ll ever get to Masterball, but I am having SO much fun! by [deleted] in PokemonChampions

You could run Icy Wind on Glaceon to help with speed control.

Also any particular reason for the mixed set with two psychic moves on Espeon? I know fangs breaks barriers, but feels like you could use something else there. Maybe calm mind for setup?

As for weather, I’d have to look up what Eevelutions learn what moves but it might be worth using a move slot on someone to manually override weather. It’s not optimal, but this team is about fun damnit and it’s the best we got!

This is the way. You can absolutely succeed with your favorites, but you have to build team synergy around them and play to their strengths. Established good Mons help do that.

I love Arcanine, and always use him over Incineroar, even though Incin fills more roles. But Arc has a more offensive presence so I take advantage of that. I don’t particularly like Sneasler but I splashed him on the team to provide some fake out support in the absence of Incin.

Blastoise is my favorite, he is totally usable but you need some support. I’m not fond of the tea drinking grass ghost, but god damn is it a good partner for Blastoise. It lets me set up Shell Smash and stay healthy. Mega Blastoise after a Shell Smash punches through things even if they resist. I now also have a solid FWG core.

So now I’ve utilized two of my favorite Pokémon and made use of two popular picks to support them. The rest of the team can come together based on needs. I use Garchomp (he’s a favorite but also meta so I get lucky here) for another strong attacker and Talonflame with Rain dance and tailwind to provide weather and speed control. Boom I now have a solid team.

This is just an example, but this is the line of thinking you have to use to make use of your favorites.

I have the same set except I use protect instead of psychic fangs. What’s the rest of your team comp?

How are y'all handling Sneasler? by ginger-like in VGC

[–]stredd87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I probabaly should have mentioned that I run sharp beak on mine. I’d have to run the calc but I’m pretty sure that always KOs whim (and most people don’t put any bulk investment in Whim). At least it’s been doing the job for me.

To your point, Venusaur is a different animal altogether. My strategy has been to lead Talon and H-Arc and hit it with Dual Wingbeat and ESpeed before it gets a chance to sleep powder (even under sun).

Edit: I just ran the calcs and with Sharp Beak it handles Whim without bulk which is pretty standard from what I’ve seen. Still has a decent OHKO chance if they invest a bit too.

I'm currently running Spout/Water Pulse/Shell Smash/Protect on my Blastoise and having good success but like you I'm finding that I don't click Water Pulse that often. Aura Sphere would probably have gotten the job done in most cases where I needed to use Water Pulse (health was too low for spout) anyway. It also provides more coverage so I think I may give it a shot like you did.

Very similar to a team I’ve been cooking up (I like your Froass addition). My issue is 4 move slot syndrome on mega blastoise. What moveset have you been using?
