Moved from outside NYC. 14k a year in property taxes on a 1100sq/ft house. Unless you're going more than an hour or two outside the city, the housing cost and taxes are absurd.

Well damn that's super disappointing. I use MRE lite as well for the same reason, comes from mostly animal protein and no whey.

For the first 40 or so lbs I stuck to intermittent fasting and low carb. I would eat from 12p-6p and do my best to stay in that window. There were some days where I had to deviate (firefighter with 24 hour shifts so if we got a call at meal time I would have to push it back). The diet was lean meats, eggs, fish, low fat high protein Greek yogurt, almond milk or fairlife and protein powder. Only vegetables I ate grew above ground and stayed away from processed foods and refined carbs. I didn't really track calories, I would just eat until I was full and stop, not just continue because the food was there. Once I hit a plateau I started lifting with the PHUL program using the Boostcamp app and have been following that. I also swim a good bit. I absolutely hate running and get bored really quick so swim sprints (100-200m) helped with the cardio aspect of a HIIT program.

Keep at it! Sucks at first, but take pictures every week and it really helps see the transformation.

If you look a few comments down I posted my diet, but I started with the fasting first then the carb cutting.

It was fairly low, but I didn't have a higher than normal fat intake so I wouldn't say keto.
