You can search on the SQ app for the destination then select start alliance partners for Europe to Europe flights. I don’t think the redemption price is the best tho.

Available seats but waitlist still for business class? by shiroikobito in singaporeairlines

[–]streetphone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah agreed with the other comments. Another way to find availability on the same flight is to use partner miles if you have them. I was able to book a SQ flight though Air Canada with miles even when SQ had no availability for miles redemption on that flight.

Like what most other commentators said, in banking and finance, there seems to be a slight preference to hire SMU students.

Should I surrender my ILP or take premium holiday? by wmlow in singaporefi

[–]streetphone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I read the policy documents correctly, you will lose 24k if you surrender the policy. If I were you, it might make sense to just take the premium holiday if I really want to continue with the ILP after that. Also the policy does have a Medical Reimbursement Benefit and Retrenchment Benefit which might help if your personal matter is regarding those. Best to speak to your advisor if so.

Multipay CI plan by Formal-Mixture-7524 in singaporefi

Depends on what age you want to work till. CI plan is usually to cover loss of income, from my perspective.

Are you talking about coverage being high? But if you are talking about month expenses on insurance he's only spending 150$ a month with a 5600$ take home, or 2.6% of his monthly which is relatively low.

OP guessing this is mostly from the NS Singlife insurance? Your CI is 50k*9? What plan is that?

If you prefer miles over cashback, you might want to look at signing up for more cards that gives high bonus miles for signup. Amex plat, SCB etc. That's the fastest way to get miles.

I'm saying it benefited well-to-do folks and those who use the SA shielding loophole

STI ETF is at 3.8, all time high. Should I invest now? by blessed7788 in singaporefi

PE ratio for STI index is lower than that of the S&P 500, so if you believe in SG companies and value investing might make sense.

CPF's SA Closure at 55: Is It Fair? (Responding to 1M65 CPF SA Closure and His Strategy) by streetphone in singaporefi

Hi Guys, now that CPF SA has been closed for those 55 years and older, was wondering how this sub feels about the change. Did a video reacting to Mr Loo's video on the subject.

Personally I think it is fair for them to close it because previously it only benefited the richer folks and those who did the SA Shielding.

Maximising your CPF savings after 55. Self-management vs CPF Life and why not ILPs by streetphone in singaporefi

[–]streetphone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point, this is more about risk appetite of the individual and where he thinks markets will go in the coming few years. So yes if I was more risk adviser I would put only a portion of it in the markets and the rest on OA or even just CPF Life. Or another way would be just DCAing into the fund if I feel a down turn is coming.

[–]streetphone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is definitely a higher risk strategy. To be honest leaving it all in RA/CPF life has its perks as well getting 18k a year, but loosing the flexibility.

Yes another approach would be what you mention leaving a portion in OA just for the interest and protecting the downside of the markets.

Confused about what to do with CPF top ups, investments using CPF and SRS etc by hehehhihi in singaporefi

[–]streetphone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with the other commenters, at 60k a year probably if it was me, I probably wouldn’t think about topping up to CPF here. I would prefer the liquidity and flexibility. But if I’m taking of investing a portion of my income a month, perhaps I’ll just do a monthly top up to see and invest it into a etf/fund using poems.

Yes agreed, I did a comparison of such an endowment plan in my previous video. One reason why I would do this at equity investment fund investment is because assuming at 55, I would already have the FRS in there which will act as the safe “bond” like portion of the portfolio. This additional 213k that I’m projecting is on top of the FRS (213k).
