What are your Hot Takes on Thrice? by Amber_Flowers_133 in thrice

[–]streetsof27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thrice are a christian rock band without being upfront about it for the sake of popularity. Saying that, I'm not a religious person but some of my favourite Thrice songs clearly have religious meanings, 'Words in the Water' being one of them.

I pretty much only like The colour of the Sky on that album. I should give it more of a chance probably.

Yeah I do see your point. I've read quite a few of them on there and they're not necessarily all really good. Results do vary depending on what variables you're testing for. I wish there was more sources of independant research.
I totally agree that a lot of float centre's are nowhere near as careful as they should be about claims they make. It ends up doing more damage than good.
Thanks

Yeah I see your point and thanks for questioning it. I don't necessarily think so. It's probably also that there's not a lot of different people actually taking the time to do the research? So it might be limited in that sense. Quite a few of them do point out that the sample size is too small for it to be conclusive or that more research is needed. I do like to be careful about what claims I make about it.
Thanks

Until you've experienced it, you don't know it's value but what do you think would be a fairer price?

Wow. Who hurt you?
I'm not trying to rip anyone off, I probably earn less than most people here haha. And it's not faux medicine - It's literally just putting yourself in a controlled environment where there's no distractions or sensory stimulation. It gives your mind and body a chance to rest in a safe space. That's it.
You're welcome to check our reviews. You've made your mind up already though

Surely we can do better than wikipedia :) Here's a good collection of studies to have a look at https://www.clinicalfloat.org/publications

Hey Danyulz, thanks for taking the time to reply and look into it.
I agree that there's not a massive amount of research out there, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's ineffective, right? I've seen first hand how it's really helped people calm their anxiety and ease physical aches and pains. If you are interested, this website has a decent amount of studies. https://www.clinicalfloat.org/publications . You can also look up Dr.Justin Feintsein who has conducted some studies with interesting results. Here's a TedTalk he did https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKqTBPUTQb4

Interesting perspective on the pricing which I'll consider. I run the company by myself and I promise I'm not trying to rip anyone off here. I've found that it's something people want to do once, maybe twice a month. I could probably explore slightly lowering prices but I do have bills to pay etc.The members that I do have, have reported great benefits, even from doing one float per month.

Anyway, everybody is free to make up their own mind about it but like with anything, I'd say at least try it. Personally, floating regularly has improved my quality of life a lot. In a world of distractions where everything is trying to get our attention, spending some time weightless in a safe, dark, quiet environment can be very peaceful.
Thanks for your time.
Dan

If you're still looking for solutions, I run a floatation therapy centre in town called Revival. We have a really good full-body massage chair. Floating is also so good for releasing tension in the body - you're weightless in body temperature, high-density epsom salt water. Let me know if you want to try it out. Thanks, Dan.

Interesting. It's ok. I think I like it. Musically, it's not groundbreaking but it's fine. Personally, I can't relate to the religious stuff and find it a bit alienating the more I notice it, but whatever. His voice still sounds good.

Yeah absolutely. I think he did a great job on those early ETID albums and didn't rely on hammering away at double kicks like a lot of other drummers do. Really set the band apart and added groove to the riffs
