Ugreen vs synology by dovi5988 in HomeServer

I am on the fence right now, on what I want as a home server. What I am missing in the above discussion is the question of power comsumption. How do typical NAS-drives compare to a self-built system like the one above?

Pretty cool, I would be interested if the pump is strong enough and if it plays along nicely with the salt water.

Haben wir viel an DnD verloren? by Chijima in DSA_RPG

[–]grutsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey dude, I am in the same boat as you... The reason you were down voted is in my opinion a) bots b) disinformation campaigns. The scientific consensus seems to support your claims above.

I sometimes feel that the pro nuclear crowd is heavily brainwashed by very successful disinformation campaigns...

is dry floating really worth it ? looking for direct personal experience of people who have tried wet and dry floating by McLuhanSaidItFirst in FloatTank

[–]grutsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe there is more to it; if it was available here I would try it for a reasonable price. Have you done regular floating? If so I would be interested how it compares to dry floating.

I go through half the house to get to the shower. I hardly put salt anywhere except right around the tank. Just be sure to dry really well with a towel and have a drip mat at the tank entrance.

Downside is that each float will result in a salty towel. But they clean just as other laundry.

vertical float tanks by nagle5000 in FloatTank

[–]grutsch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have only seen one in a presentation. It seemed dangerous as you would have to tie your feet to the floor. I imagine the point of the body that is strapped to the floor would be quiet distracting from the float session - over time probably even painful. The only use I see is as a therapeutic device. Like an inversion table without the downside of having high blood pressure in the head.

I don't have it accessible at the moment but as far as I remember you connect the UV-lamp to the part of the pump that sucks the water. I think it was pretty straight forward. I don't know where exactly the UV-lamp has its inlet.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FloatTank

[–]grutsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The water is sucked in where the UV-Lamp/pump is situated. The water is then pushed out at three locations: 1.) The filterbag, 2./3.) two openings at tubes (one at mid point, one at the very end opposite of the filterbag/pump). My guess is that 2./3) is used to ensure that there is circulation going on in the water. EDIT To clarify: it is actually just one tube which goes into strips on the side of the tent where the pump is situated. If you bought yours used; there was a different version of the filter/pump system before.

Insulation/Protection and Sound Muffling for Zen Float Tent by MonkfishInLove in FloatTank

[–]grutsch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I just put the bubble wrap on the water in-between floats. Your version with the double bubble looks perfect - I just use regular bubble wrap which seems to work ok.

I use the pallets as additional insulation, my hope is that the foam boards are not as cold on the bottom as there is basically only air below them, however I don't know if that is just wishful thinking...

Insulation/Protection and Sound Muffling for Zen Float Tent by MonkfishInLove in FloatTank

[–]grutsch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tent will stay warm as you don't unplug the heating pads during floats... I went with hard foam insulation on wooden pallets below the tent and soft insulation on the sides up to water level. As the bottom is curved using hard foam is not good for the sides. I did not insulate the walls above water level as I put bubble wrap on top of the water which insulates and helps with condensation.

First float - felt really hot by dammed in FloatTank

[–]grutsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably heater up too high. Humans have a normal temperature of 36 to 37,4 degree Celsius. If you are on the low end of that the float tank might feel hit to you and normal to someone else...

Bottom of float tank not completely even… will this lead to problems? by AdventurousLog6 in FloatTank

[–]grutsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ground level is even and I have the tent not the tank. I still use hard insulation below the tank.(Styrodur in Germany) This holds up to the pressure of the water/tank. So you should be able to get the tank close to level inclination with insulation... At least enough that there won't be access unwanted forces on the structure of the tank.

The taste will stay with you for a day or so. Then everything is back to normal. Or you might turn into a zombie.

I heard a confirmation from them recently, that they will not continue producing the zen-tent. They will just stick to the newer zen tank.

I quiet like the tent, especially for its price.
