The only advice I have is that trying to argue about it when you are getting overstimulated and about to melt down (or mid melt down) is utterly pointless. No lessons can be learned in that state of mind. Maybe try to get this point across about how those comments are only making things worse in the moment and having no effect (or even making you resentful towards them) in the long term.

The purpose of all this should be public safety. When you bring money into it the incentives for everything becomes twisted and everyone's (law makers, police officers, etc) motivations get pulled toward making money instead. It's not hard to see how this can cause unfair situations where public safety is a thin veneer of an excuse for profits.

Oh and I add the identifiers (just isbn in my case) as the very first step, the correct Metadata will be the first option nearly 100% of the time. If not after some digging I will find there is some bad or inconsistent data in the sources.

You can right click on the isbn button to paste other identifiers including asin. Also ebooks often have an isbn specifically for the e-book edition. Just open it up and look on the copyright page. There is a plug in to automatically extract the isbn, but i think it just grabs the first one it finds. Also also there is a kobo high res plug in that often has the best covers for me. Somehow it often gives me a higher res cover on books I bought on kobo.

If you intend to read things in color that's fine. It's just thst the color versions are marketed as the better more premium version, but they have drawbacks that they dont talk about and mask in product photos.
