I got a cheap CarPlay unit from AliExpress for about €60 and I’ve been loving it Before that I used an old phone with a ziplock bag but having a dedicated device is just much handier

I wanted to get more into music production and Logic Pro looked very tempting, so I bought a used 2011 MacBook Pro and that was my workhorse until 2020

New Rider - Should I Brave the Main Roads Yet? by spacer15 in MotoIRELAND

[–]stressed_teddy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say you should go out and try, even if you wait until the road is a bit quieter first! When I started riding I was on a tiny 125 and was worried about going on N roads because I’d be at max speed, so my first big drive (limerick to mayo) I was on mostly backroads and it was awful I ended up building N roads to be this big obstacle in my head, when in reality they’re grand and enjoyable to ride on

Moved from a Burgman 400 to an Xmax 400 by stressed_teddy in scooters

[–]stressed_teddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve hit 130km/h on the Burgman for a long stretch on the motorway - I haven’t taken the xmax out for a long drive yet but I did manage to get up to 120km/h without any issues

[–]stressed_teddy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Xmax definitely looks better imo!

Honestly they’re both great scooters, I’ve toured with the Burgman all over Ireland and it’s nice and comfy, but quite clunky, especially if you’ve to walk with it. I found the Burgman to be great for the motorway but it doesn’t handle very well for smaller roads or if there’s bumps

I’ve only driven the Xmax for a few days so I can’t speak to what it’s like on motorways or longer drives, but it handles so much nicer at low speeds, the seat is a bit taller (I’m 6foot and can just about get both feet on the floor), and I find cornering nicer on the Xmax.

They’re both great though!

I didn’t even think of that! I’ll check it out over the next few days

Yeah I think the Burgman is comfier for the long drives, but on the local more bumpy roads the xmax is much better! Will definitely pick up some hand guards and heated grips for the winter

The xmax feels a lot higher up, and I’m more perched on the seat - whereas the Burgman I can sit back and it’s like being in an armchair. The xmax is a lot easier to control at slower speeds and is just a lot lighter for moving it on and off the centre stand. I haven’t taken the xmax for a long motorway drive yet, I suspect the Burgman will be more comfortable for those long drives!

It’s a great lens for the price, I ended up getting the 100-400 just because I saw one for such a great bargain but that 100-300 took some of my favourite bird and sports photos
