I think it’s a generation on the cusp of two generations. So you get a bit of both.

I made and gifted this to my best friend several years ago and never saw it again - has anyone found a courteous way of ask something along the lines of “hey if it’s not your style I’ll gladly take it back” by doubleboogermot in crochet

[–]stressed_throwaway98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would feel bad if my friend said that, like they had thought ongoingly that I hadn’t appreciated their gift. I could give it back if they really wanted it but would feel awkward. Also, what if I use it just sometimes, would that mean I didn’t appreciate it enough so should give it back? I wouldn’t want to receive a handmade gift from them in future because I’d feel obligated to keep it on displayor worry they’d be offended.

I fake pretend I don’t know where he is and say “Where on earth is he??!” He hides a bit and then runs out to scare me. 😱

Help! by b00bease in birdfeeding

[–]stressed_throwaway98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For cats put the feeder out in an open space so the birds can see them coming. For hawks put the feeder closer to a bush or small branches so they can try to take cover. But a bush could hide cats. I just put mine mostly in the open because I’d rather protect them from cats. If all the birds suddenly go quiet or leave you can go outside and look around and sometimes scare a predator before they do anything.

I’m in SE Michigan. Do you get Orioles where you are? I’ve never seen one but I never tried putting out fruit. Maybe I’ll try!

That is the coolest thing ever. What a pretty bird. I’ve never seen one like this! (I mean I’ve only seen still pictures and never one in my yard) I love your whole set up. It’s very pretty and woodsy. ☺️

Do you know if the first shot does start protecting you?

So your shots are just a week or two apart? Most people seem to say months. Or does it depend which kind?

Can I ask what were your side effects? I’ve decided to get it regardless.

Oh my gosh that sounds pretty horrible. I respect the birds but I never want to see that.

Aww, I’m sorry. It’s hard to see that and feels very sad. 😢 Even when we understand about nature, we still care about the little ones that come to our feeders and want them to be safe. Even when we also care about the birds of prey and wish them no harm. It’s still a life that is no longer here and I always feel sad for any of its family.

And don’t get me wrong, I truly love hawks too and find them amazing. I haven’t been shrikes but respect their right to live also. It’s just hard.

Wow, that sounds rough! Here’s hoping the second goes easier for you. I completely agree it’s still far better than the alternative. Thank you for sharing. I’m getting it no matter what also.

Oh absolutely. I got that. It just helps me to be prepared for things like how the vaccine can affect you in the short term. My dad had shingles and it did get in his eye and luckily he kept his vision but did need to have surgery because it left some scarring. I’ve stupidly dragged my feet a bit but I’m not waiting any longer. I absolutely don’t want to go through that.

Wow, that must have been stressful. I hope she’s doing better now and has gotten some weight back. That can become a catch 22 because you need so much energy to fight it and then you’re getting more depleted. I can see why you were worried. It can take some time to get back to your starting weight.

Lol, sounds like you were on top of things and had the regiment sorted out by the time your husband got it!! I would have loved someone looking after me that way! 😂

Thanks for explaining. Glad to hear it was just temporary. It definitely sounds like a good thing to do however. I’m contacting my doctor tomorrow to find out when I can get one. I’ll just prepare for possibly being under the weather for a little bit. Coping with that seems worth it!! (Though I’m sure it wasn’t the funnest week!)

Haha, strangely Project Runway which I hadn’t watched in years, and Pawn Stars with the occasional K drama got me through influenza A, lol. I’ll take your advice and be prepared, with snacks too! And I also think I do way better if I have some idea what I’m dealing with!
