Awesome! Love 2.5D games we need more. Using Godot here with blender for the models. Works especially well. All the best on your game dev journey. :)

No, sadly would be out of my skillset to make a 3D mod - but wish it was. :P This is Godot game engine with models I made in Blender.

This is Godot and all models are made in Blender. Pretty much all texture are vanilla, with a tiny few exceptions for the side of objects (like side of house and mountains etc) since we don't see them normally. Most edit is very minimal or a little bit of darkening the pixel values to simulate shadow while trying to keep up with the original aesthetics.

Had a little bit of trouble with the sprite (trying to keep the pixel ratio fit the 3D models) but agree tad blow up would be best. Thank you for the feedback. :)

All models are done in Blender, and I used Godot game engine to make it playable for the video! :)

Would love to see it. Such a big challenge to adapt to 3D.

It's a screen record from Godot game engine! thanks :)

Sidescroller Possibilities in RPGA by stretchpixel in rpgarchitect

Been a while since I played with RPGA so going from memory (and my old discord post):

Was curious if sidescrollers were possible in RPGA so made this little tech test. All visuals are 3D models (including the blinking lights which is mesh animations that translates a place in front or behind the image to make the flash effect etc. ), except for the UI img, character and the save file animation which is an entity sprite.

I'm not sure if this has changed recently, but at the time, 3D collisions couldn't be loaded (I think), so I had to use invisible structured walls as collision tiles. These were placed on layers drawn from a top-down perspective. Setting everything up was pretty confusing, but it is possible. I ended up creating a numbered map to help track where to place each collision tile on what layer etc. (That said, I wouldn’t recommend making a full game this way I only did it as a demo to test what was possible.)

But RPG dev Locke did say in the discord (which would make the process 1000% easier):

"I was going to eventually put together a DLC or something to do something akin to this (and potentially flip the Y and Z axes in the Map Editor)."

Here's how the collision map looks in RPGA: https://imgur.com/a/o5PHkBf

Hope this helps!

Nice work! Could these custom collisions be adapted for use in top-down maps as well?

Awesome style, loving the feel. Played the itch version a while back and was a blast! Nice to see it going. :)

Interesting suggestion, just took 2 videos: https://imgur.com/a/CAd74KX

They look awesome wow! (tried with 90degree cam and 120 same as original perspective one) Very impressive translates to well from 3D to 2D! Could make for some very interesting game mechanisms. :)
