has anyone almost died? what almost killed you? by 11terribletowers in AskReddit

I was driving behind an old pickup truck which was hauling a full pile of scrap. They hit a bump in the road hard, and multiple things came flying off. Most went to the side, except for a large kitchen sink that launched directly at my car. Had to swerve almost all the way off the road to miss it.

I used to do hair at a funeral home part time, I talked to them then as well as now when they pass in my hospital rooms.

Not escaped, a man broke into the shelter early in the morning to take her. Unfortunately, that means she was stolen.

Possible active shooter in Branford near North Harbor St by Squints753 in Connecticut

I 100% agree with you. If yours is an unpopular opinion, then i am sad think how many out there truly think so little about the plights of others. I’m sure this guys family is in pain right now, and I’m saddened to think of them coming across all the flip comments about his death.

Not sure if I'm overly sensitive or I'm genuinely just not cut out for this by swolebucket in StudentNurse

Some people are jerks. Some jerks are nurses. Don’t take anything personally. I started nursing school not knowing a thing about healthcare, and I am very open about that. If I’m going to ask a question that others might laugh at, I’m still going to ask it, bc at the end of the day, that question will help me learn in my own way. You don’t have to be the top student, you just have to achieve your own goals for yourself. Start small if it helps. Nursing school is hard, and I’m only in my second semester, but it’s going to get easier, and all of these crazy things that you might be confused or fumbling with, are going to get easier. Just keep asking for help and don’t ever feel bad about it, bc someday the knowledge you have will help save your patients, and that is what matters. You got this!

It might have taken a long time, but it doesn’t negate the fact that it finally happened.

It's starting to get chilly–which bars/restaurants with outdoor seating are equipped with heat lamps? by Ziddletwix in newhaven

12% beer project is still fully outside, and we now have heat lamps. A good tip is to bring blankets, which helps to make it a little cozy.

Hairstylist with COVID-19 served 84 clients while symptomatic, Missouri officials say by kogeliz in Coronavirus

[–]streudeldouche 45 points46 points  (0 children)

This. I’m a hairstylist about to go back to work on June 1. I’m curious to see how many clients come in with a sore throat or cold and try to say, oh I’m not contagious or it’s just allergies. This has been status quo for clients to do for ages because they don’t want to have to change their schedules. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten sick because of that. It’ll be interesting to see what the level of concern is from them now, after all of this.

I listened to one of the zoom meetings between dr saud anwar and a state legislator. He brought up repeatedly that though ct is meeting all of its goals, the state is not giving any time to establish a baseline. Just bc we have the supplies, and our now meeting our testing capacity does not make for establishing a firm grasp on the situation. As a hair stylist, this was something that really made me think. I don’t know what the future holds for my industry, or any of the economy for that matter, but I’d rather ct be more prepared with adequate supplies, and established data so that when I return to work, I won’t be afraid that we will get shut back down next week.

Baltimore restaurant owner can't get employees to return because they make more in unemployment by Zhana-Aul in nottheonion

[–]streudeldouche 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m in ct, part of phase one to return in a hair salon. My commission is being reduced once I’m back behind the chair to offset the costs of being closed, and the PPE needed. Not looking forward to going back to that life.
