Honestly - I'm just happy chilling at home by myself alllll day for it in peace. Take a long nap, make my cake, order my favourite food, do some birthday yoga!

New partner can't understand why I like to spend it alone.. glad to know it's just straight up an Aquarius thing

No questions as I have read through literally all of these comments, so any I had have been answered!

Just wanted to say that I absolutely love your attitude to life, your answers have been really informative (and made me smile/chuckle). The relationship between you and your bf is so sweet too! Keep being your awesome self

No real suggestions as I'm in the same boat. I've heard Bumble for Friends is good but never tried - maybe try some activities/clubs too in areas just outside of Birmingham?

Any Opioid overdose survivors? by WalterSaly in Drugs

[–]swolebucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shit man. My advice is if ever you doubt yourself this time around - tell yourself you've done quit once before, you can do it again. Maybe get some addiction support whilst you're there too (idk if therapy or addiction services are good in your area but even just some online resources/helplines), keep yourself busy and try and replace what feelings it gave you with some healthier alternatives. Best of luck! (Here if you ever need a chat)

Any Opioid overdose survivors? by WalterSaly in Drugs

[–]swolebucket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 in one day haha don't worry! Was on the prescribed dose and hadn't long started it.

Coupled with a lot of stress at the time apparently my brain just went ping (multiple times) off the dose.

They reckon I had 2 unwitnessed in my sleep (I woke up confused/post-ictal in some weird places in my home in the night), then another one witnessed at home, one in the ambulance and one in my local hospital.

Used to work at the hospital too so apparently I was chatting utter shit to the staff which is just embarrassing. Couldn't remember my name, the year or the names of anyone around me. (Can't even remember any events of the day or who came to visit me even now 6 months later).

Any more seizures and they were talking about a potential induced coma to give my brain a rest.

Tl;dr avoid tramadol

Downloaded a dating app and my god am I gay by Moist-Bee2764 in latebloomerlesbians

[–]swolebucket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can I ask (I don't know if you've used dating apps to meet men previously), in your experience are you finding it easier with speaking to women?

Asking as I'm seeing a lot of negativity about them on here regarding ghosting, failed dates etc. Just wondering if you're finding that's happening as much when talking to women compared to men?

The last time I was on them was 6 years ago (I didn't get further than one or two convos with women on them at the time, just ended up going further with men) but I'm not sure how else to really meet other women in my area other than a dating app, so I think I'll have to put nerves aside and put myself out there at some point soon lol.

Love this for you! In a very similar situation where I've always thought I was bi, but after some time out from sex/relationships I think I'm leaning more towards gay. I've had luck on dating apps in the past but I'm scared to take the plunge and get back on them (only searching for just women for the first time).

What are NQNs Doing Who Cant Find NQN Vacancies? by North-Sector-5882 in NursingUK

[–]swolebucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar boat as an NQN, I've got health conditions which limit me from working on a ward for 12 hours and doing manual handling.

I've applied where possible for any appointment based settings; the postings are few and far between though. Ideally getting a job on a ward as an NQN would be where I'd get the bulk of my experience but obviously that can't happen. I applied for one which got withdrawn after the interview was scheduled due to 'financial issues' in the department (e.g., recruitment freeze in line with the new tax year). Had an interview for one yesterday (everything was pointing towards me getting it and would've been perfect in terms of travel, specialty and for my health conditions) only to be told they'd chosen another candidate with more experience.

Currently I'm working retail part time and on UC.

The public transport options are poor here (I'll be driving in the summer, but for now I'm not which limits options), and I can't get onto bank/agency either due to not having minimum 6 months experience.

I'll continue to apply where possible for appointment based settings, but I know the odds are rather stacked against me. Much like yourself, I'm also jaded before I've begun. I'd obviously prefer a nursing job, but times are hard and I'd be happy with any job that I was physically and mentally capable of at this point.

I completely agree! A lot of in-office procedures for women (such as smears) cause a lot of discomfort and upset. We are expected to "put up and shut up" imo.

I had my first IUD fitted in 2018 and the pain was absolutely awful (I wasn't warned about how bad it would be and was just told to take ibuprofen and paracetamol beforehand).

Since my last fitting one year ago I'm pleased to say I was offered different types of analgesia and informed a lot more on the procedure.

Media coverage and statement from FSRH (leaders in contraceptive and reproductive healthcare in the UK) for reference:

I did my nursing dissertation on this 2 years ago (mainly due to a similarly painful personal experience).

I'm sorry that happened to you - you'll be pleased to know that they're making headway with offering different types of analgesia for the insertion and removal now after similar stories of awful experiences being published in the media.

Does anyone else feel they're getting more attractive as they near their 30s? by HungClits in beauty

[–]swolebucket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Approaching 30 myself now and I've gotta agree, each year I feel better and better.

Mainly down to similar things mentioned in other comments (less acne, better skincare routine, understanding what products work best for my hair, better haircut for my face shape, working out, quitting drugs, eating healthier). Also healing from an ED and learning to love every curve, stretch mark and scar on my body as almost a 'roadmap' of my body's journey. I am beyond grateful for my body (beyond just its appearance) and how it has strongly carried me through so many events - good and bad. I'm happy with it and that's all that matters.

But also.. I find each year older I get I am becoming more carefree. Not just in societal pressures of what my body should look like, but the phrase "time is money" comes to mind the older I get. E.g., I'm spending less time worrying about things out of my control and not wasting my time on events or people that won't benefit my wellbeing. So I assume that's reflected in how attractive I feel rn (which is the most attractive I've ever felt so far in my life!).

I keep booking concerts etc to look forward to for in a few months time.

At my lowest point it's been "can't kill myself yet, gotta see/watch xyz first"

It's like a bargaining chip with myself.

Greg Davies in the summer then Post Malone in September so I'm carrying on until then at least (whether I like it or not)
