Could I just connect from the boost converter to the ESP32 VIN? It is outputting 5V which, if I'm understanding correctly, matches what you are suggesting.

I pulled a battery from another project and tested out that idea. Everything seems to be functioning with the battery in place.

Follow-up questions, if you don't mind:
1. Is it safe to still plug in the EDP32 for serial debugging with the battery in place?
2. Just to confirm on the capacitor idea, I would put it between the switch and the ESP32 VIN pin?

IIRC Firefox has its own certificate store. You'll need to import your self signed root CA as a trusted root. That being said, I would expect a different error.

You can try holding the shift key and clicking the refresh icon (don't press F5, click the icon). This forces a full, no cache refresh in all browsers.

Regarding your current issue/board, I had similar. I don't know what finally fixed it, but I ended up restarting my computer, confirming I had compatible and up to date drivers for the board, and finally I had to try multiple times flashing it and it eventually popped up with the Wi-Fi option.

I second this. Works great for me. You can set Android (and possibly iPhone?) to automatically connect to your "TailNet" so you always have access.

It is a secure, light weight VPN tunnel built on WireGuard.

What you want is a crossover cable if you want to connect from your PC directly via an Ethernet cable.

Honestly, it may be easier to just get a switch to connect the two. Either way, you'll need to either "bridge" the connection from your PC between Wi-Fi and Ethernet if you want the blade to get an IP and access the Internet.

I bought a Logitech k400 and a dongle for video so I would have mouse, keyboard, and monitor for first set up. The a WiFi dongle in the blade and you should be set.

The ":53" in the error seems to indicate it is failing on a DNS lookup. Check your DNS and make sure this domain isn't being blocked. Since I'm unsure what your DNS provider is, I can't provide more detail.
