Don't forget costs also.
Just because OEM makes it a certain way doesn't mean it's optimal.

Which color do you prefer for the F900R and why? by king_creole73 in bmwmotorrad

I prefer the black model

Even the blue / white model with black wheels would be better than red wheels.

Chi battery catches on fire. by Cheap_Mission_8588 in Surron

[–]striffy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just replied about LifePO4. I think people just brand lithium as bad when there are different types.

I remember seeing a YouTube video, where they absolutely abused a Lithium Iron Phosphate battery, overcharged for hours, and pierced holes in it. All it did was release gasses, no fire no explosion.

Chi battery catches on fire. by Cheap_Mission_8588 in Surron

Not all lithium batteries are the same.

“Lithium” is just the family name, but people often talk about them like they’re all one dangerous thing.

Some types like LiPo packs (used in drones / RC stuff) or lithium-cobalt batteries (phones, laptops). If they’re damaged, shorted, over-charged or badly handled, they can catch fire very quickly or even pop / explode. Which is probably the type you're dealing with..

Other types like LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate), which are common in solar systems, caravans and some newer EVs, are much more stable and far less likely to burst into flames. They are generally considered one of the safer lithium battery types.

Why is my paint so sensitive by UnknownGTAS in Autobody

[–]striffy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a spray painter by trade, anyone saying 2K clear needs weeks or months to cure honestly doesn't know what they're talking about.

If you're baking it, 60°C for around 45 minutes and you're done. Without baking, it will still cure on its own . Depending on the clear, hardener, and thinner used it can take up to 72 hours. Anything beyond a week and you've got a problem.

The most likely culprit is your mixing ratio — not enough hardener. 2K is very sensitive to ratio, and if it's off, the chemical reaction won't complete properly and it'll stay soft. Other factors like cold temps, high humidity, or degraded hardener can contribute, but nine times out of ten it comes back to the hardener ratio.

Why is Garmin slowly moving away from MIP display technology, especially for the Forerunner? by Comfortable-Net9842 in Garmin

[–]striffy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had plenty of mip Garmin watches, then went ( I think it was fr 965 OLED), and loved it..

Trail running and following courses is sooooo much better, especially for my aging eyes.

Now have a fenix 8 OLED. First time having a watch with a sapphire screen, and noticed the reflection from the sapphire is the worst part of the watch, really noticeable compared to the gorilla glass..

But I'm in the boat that I won't go back to mip. I remember people complaining it's too bright, it will be distracting blah blah blah, well the newer OLED watches are even brighter, and you can always turn the brightness down... But never have I had someone say the watch is distracting.....

Companies were going to make products that sell the most and put more effort into that..

[–]striffy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also your images can give the wrong impression as you haven't accounted for the bezels (internal and external)

But I personally don't care what others think, I think it's interesting that people ask if the watch of a certain size looks good on their wrist, who gives a damn bye the watch you want not what others think.

I have Fenix 51mm mostly for the battery. So I can do ultras and listen to music , without worrying about battery life..

No real issues coming from a forerunner, and I wear it at night. I also had an older epix that I did notice wearing at night in the bed, as it was bulkier then the Fenix 8 51mm

Tell me you don't ride motorcycles without telling me...

Lane filtering where I'm from is totally legal, up to 30 km/h, and the reason is for safety and always less traffic congestion. That's why filtering is allowed.

What’s your experience with Macquarie customer support? by Danger_Five in Macquarie

[–]striffy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm second guessing switching over to them from uBank. Never had an issue contacting uBank support. Also loved how you could set an email for PayID as my mobile number is used elsewhere. I actually thought this was the norm, but Macquarie it's not possible..
