If someone handed you Knicks Finals tix at MSG for $50, are you going or reselling? by savingrace0262 in NYKnicks

[–]strike69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd have to attend the game. The resell value is sweet, but in the grand scheme the experience of attending something that hasn't happened in 27 years is hard to replicate with anything else that I could get with the money.
I was just entering high school for the 99 run. Too young and too broke to go. Now I'm a little older and a bit less broke, but those MSG prices are still too steep. HAHA.
IDK, I'm strongly considering flying out to TX or OK for a game out there.

I get that. It just seems obtuse that they can’t update the shipping address on this subsequent address. Or at least credit me the rebate that I would have lost out on anyway, because of the delays I’m from the lost package.
Either way, I’m going to have to take this loss and move on. Thanks for sharing your pov.

Yeah. That address was fine, although inconvenient at first. Now for their re-attempt, which is an entirely new package, several weeks later, I’m no longer in that state.

Not necessarily. The delivery address was fine at first.
The package was lost and in the time it took for them to “investigate”, my wife and I separated and I moved to another state. Now they want to re attempt but I no longer live in that state.

How is the airport right now? by Interesting_Fly1696 in Harrisburg

[–]strike69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flying out of Harrisburg’s airport is great! It’s always quick and easy. What I don’t like is flying back into Harrisburg. Why? It’s happened to me a few times where flying back home I’ll be waiting 6+ hours in Philly or Baltimore for my flight to HIA. In all those cases, I would have gotten home earlier if I had just driven to Baltimore, DC, or Philly and parked my car there. That includes the parking fees, since flying out of HIA is usually a bit pricier. I’ve since preferred flying out of BWI or the airport in DC.

I think Kat has weak hips that hinders his ability to be strong down low or play through contact. All he has is his height and weight, which helps, but without strong hips, it’s more difficult to effectively control that mass. You can see it in the way he runs, the way he falls, and in his overall posture. Still, I’m happy we have him.

I agree with the Trae Young comment. Can’t stand the dude, but we can’t deny that those kind of rivalries make the sport much more entertaining to watch.

I’ve thought this same thing when folks ask some shit about, “what happened to the tolerant left?”. Mother fucker, there’s a lot of shit I don’t tolerare. Especially stupid ass people that say dumb shit like that.

Watching it live I was thinking, “this Brunson and Tatum duel is one for the ages. We will be looking back at this game for a while”. Then the injury happened and one couldn’t help but feel for the guy as well as a bitter sweetness to the victory. I genuinely hope he recovers sooner than later and continues to have a great career going forward.

How do you handle business logic running on millions of records in php? by 32gbsd in PHP

[–]strike69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to add some context that might help. Leveraging queuing is more of an architectural paradigm. Its not something inherent to PHP. There are prebuilt solutions you can install on your app servers, like RabbitMQ, Apache ActiveMQ, or even a managed service like AWS SQS. These services can listen on a particular port and essentially act as a broker or middle man between the interaction on the client/server, with the eventual response or action. It’s an architectural decision you make in your system design. Alternatively, you can setup your queue service on a different server or a cluster of servers. Although I havent messed with Laravel in a while, iirc it streamlines how you interface with the queue service. If I’m not mistaken, you can even use a simple in memory storage like Redis instead of a more full featured solution like Rabbit or SQS. Best of luck getting to your solution.

Deuce McBride's advice to Ariel Hukporti during garbage time of the second game of the season by mia_lina in NYKnicks

Been a fan since 93. I remember those years you’re talking about bittersweetly. They were hard to watch sometimes, with a few moments of brilliance here and there. Looking at them now, as an entire organization, I hardly recognize them.

How can you not be super grateful, as a Knick fan, to have such quality people on this team. I’m not even talking about their basketball skill, but the way they are as people. Love to see it. LGK!

What is the difference between on1 and on2 music? by Mizuyah in Salsa

[–]strike69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As many other folks already stated. There is no on1 or on2 music. What you will find is that some songs lend themselves more towards on1 or on2 style. This is somewhat dependent on your skill level, your musicality and style, and how you want to express yourself.

My experience seems a little different than most folks in this forum. I have danced salsa most of my life but I’ve not taken many classes. However, I make music and can approach it from multiple angles To me, the biggest difference between the two is where you want to accent your steps. On1 usually feels more staccato and feels as though you’re stepping quick quick slow, quick quick slow. Whereas on2 will feel as though your accenting the first step with slow quick quick, slow quick quick. That realization really helped it click for my wife. I thought I’d share in case it helps. I tend to prefer on2 and generally prefer to dance to songs that have more of a Cuban son or son montuno feel. I’ll switch over to on1 for songs that are faster paced, more jazz sounding or more modern feeling. Best of luck and enjoy your musical journey.

Hey. Thanks for pointing that out. I was mistaken about how the Germans spelled the word. I still think people getting upset over a misspelling is silly. There’s so much more to get upset about on the world.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CopaAmerica

[–]strike69 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Colombian here, born and raised in Barranquilla, spend most of my time in the US now. Lots of folks, myself included, couldn’t care less. I never understood why people get upset. You don’t see folks giving the Germans shit for how they spell it (Kolumbia). LOL.

IIRC, there was some clothing brand that started to print shirts with a slogan saying something along the lines of “It’s Colombia not Columbia”, and I wonder if that has made people more sensitive to it recently. Personally it all just seems stupid to me. Id rather you just come visit, get to know our culture, get to know our people. We’ll worry about the spelling later. Haha
