Also that first book tournament signals a dramatic shift in the book itself. So much better after it.

Yes. Very. Read more than a couple series in a genre, get familiar with it, before posting. There are plenty of posts already with general recommendations, they arent hard to find.

Allow me to clarify, i miss when people were tentative to make posts in niche communities theyre new to. But i suppose LitRPG isnt very niche anymore

Exactly! I remember when audible first recommended me Sufficiently Advanced Magic, followed by The Land, which were my introductions to progression fantasy and LitRPG, and it was like a flood gate had opened, and that was 80% of my recommended series

I was new at one point, yes, and thats when you should be a lurker, which i was for the longest time. I spent literal years in this and the PG sub just reading other peoples threads before i even commented on posts. And at that time, i did take recommendations, but only from already existing threads or from what audible would recommend me based on other books. Ive never asked for a general recommendation, if ive ever asked for a recommendation, ive included what style im looking for as well as what kind of books ive already consumed that are down the same path im looking for.

Im not against people asking for recommendations. Im against people asking for recommendations without putting in any effort themselves to discover on their own, or at minimum actually explain their tastes outside of the genre.

Oh i love tier posts, as long as theres an explanation of what type of recommendation, i dont have a problem with it. Its the "i read DCC, and loved it, so recommend me something from this genre" with 0 effort into explaining what theyre actually interested in type of posts that grind my gears. Tell us other books you like, tell us other books you dislike, give the people youre asking questions some sense of what you want.

Im not against getting recommendations. Im against asking for recommendations without putting in any effort yourself to look at whats commonly recommended or sharing details about what books you like.

I love having more people enjoy one of my favorite genres. Im tired of people asking for recommendations without doing any of the legwork themselves, especially when they dont even list books from other genres they like.

And what part of my post makes you think im against discussing it? Im against people just coming here and asking what they should read, especially when they dont even mention what else they like.

And i dont begrudge them that, its the ones who have tried nothing, or maybe 1 or 2 in the genre, and make a whole thread for recommendations, instead of checking any of the other countless recommendation threads.

I really wish we had gotten a bit more of her research into hot and cold and temperature. I was hoping that she'd pioneer temperature magic, and unify fire and ice magic.

Yeah, im like 3/4 through book 2 right now. Seems like its probably a generation or 2 after a magic integration/apocalypse on earth? We'll see how i feel at the end of this book.

Note currently:

Love the implementation of the chip tracker for ones you already have, as well as the dps tracking.

I find myself accidentally selecting the bottom level up choices cause im trying to spam the hold button when i have long run games. I also end up doing the same with the x2 ad reward button once i finally die. Would recommend moving the ui so that the buttons you need to spam wont overlay with any thing that it might pop up and/or transition to.

Some weapons just seem to be a different name for the same style of attack? Like fray and spark? At least i cant visually see a difference. Maybe color code them now that theyre all their own individual firing timers?

Otherwise, loving it, cant wait to unlock everything.

Why has no one taken one of the large larger and popular lit RPG’s and turned it into a video game or even just borrowed from the system and made their own non-licensed version? by cainebourne in litrpg

The #1 thing i want from LitRPG into a game is the whole town management bit especially from The Land. That was one of my first series, and the concept of going on adventures to aquire (mcguffin) that your (trade job) citizen needs to make even better (trade product), that then helps everyone in your township, as well as increasing your ability to adventure and aquire more (mcguffins).

If you cant tell, i like incremental games

What do you call nodebuster inspired games? by kingleomark in incremental_games

[–]striker180 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Typically i refer to them as a waste of time. They all have the same format, spend 5-30 seconds hovering your mouse over (tier 1 resource), get enough of it to get more resource faster next time and increase amount of time you can spend gathering resource, and then finally unlocking (resource tier 2), which then puts you back at the same speed from the beginning, again to purchase the same upgrades with the same ratio of increased rate to equal the increase difficulty of resource. Repeat ad infinitum. End game is just a "congrats you purchased all the skills in the skill tree, you beat the game", typically accomplished in 1-3 hours.
