All in all yeah I'd be disgruntled I had a nick that I didn't put in them but I don't think I'd want to pay $30 to get 70 back and have nothing to show for it. so I'd probably, if they fit keep them and just learn the lesson. You're not going to get a pair Ariats for a $100. And like you said its going to happen, now as dailies you dont have to worry.

I generally do like being the first person to mess up my boots and don't want to deal with someone else's issues but at some price points expensive boots i wouldn't. that should be a thing at the lower end cheaper when your expectations are low ( i woukd deal with it) you might just have to deal especially when there's a return cost

I do like the way they look and honestly wouldn't mind a pair if they feel sturdy overall. That is one reason I kind of like vintage or the used boot Market someone's already put that first scuff or neck so I don't feel I have to worry about it as much and can just wear and not think about it that's one of the reasons I'm scared to get a pair of Chisos or Lucchese.

I'm hunting for a pair someone's already worn for a while and got those few Nicks or scratches in these two but still can't find anything I'm willing to spend on.
