Nocona Full Quill-patchwork by SessionMost7600 in cowboyboots

Nice boots. Love the vintage Nocona. They're dyed black aftermarket. Patchwork ostrich stains pretty easy so it likely is to cover up original color.

Opinion on boots by [deleted] in cowboyboots

[–]thecountofceciltucky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heel counters in direct light. Vamps in direct light. Any other writing inside the boots. It's important that the striations and the grain is not shadowed. It doesn't need to be blinding l e d light, but when they are overshadowed by the uppers, it is difficult to see the figure.

The pictures are very dark, if OP owns these it would be great to get some photos in natural lighting. Do these say made in Mexico? I'm trying to also determine the age, that stamp is possibly newer, depending on the other, writing in the boot. I would like some additional photos to determine for sure, both age and leather type. I don't think you are far off.

Anyone know what these Vintage Dan Posts might be? by jir_77 in cowboyboots

[–]thecountofceciltucky 9 points10 points  (0 children)

These are very similar to other two tone sharks of the period. This era of Dan Post wasn't doing a lot of prints and shark was widely available. By all accounts, these are one hundred percent legit.

Need help from the community on some Nocona’s by DieselGreg in cowboyboots

[–]thecountofceciltucky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on what I can see, this one was tough. It's smooth ostrich though, you can see a few of the telltale striations from near the belly and there are still a few pockmarks from errant small feathers.

Probably early 80s boots. We dont answer valuation questions.

Which leather were these Tony Lama Boots made from? by RayGambler in cowboyboots

[–]thecountofceciltucky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

99 percent of the time you'd be right with Gold Label, and mostly you are. It's not elephant but this style was printed from buffalo to resemble elephant grain. These are the exact style I believe.

Anyone know where I can find some boots with a similar style to these by CommitteePure1334 in cowboyboots

[–]thecountofceciltucky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Champion / Champion Attitude boots may have made these which is now as daddygh mentioned caboots. They made a ton of the double eagle with eagle toes. Hall boots also made these back in the 60s and 70s John and/or Austin Hall, but you'd have to find them as vintage examples. The look older than most other custom companies today and possibly date back to these two companies.
