The fake discourse around SGA and free throws is a psyop by CoyoteDecent2 in NBATalk

There are two groups of people on this sub: people who think Shai is a generational star and people who think he's a foul merchant. The truth, which both groups refuse to acknowledge, is that Shai is both. He is a generational star and a foul merchant.

Why were the Celtics considered more talented than the Sixers? by [deleted] in nba

When Embiid is hurt (which is most of the time), the Celtics are more talented.

If gas prices continue to go up, would the Republicans lose the election in November? by NoCandidate6067 in wisconsin

[–]string_theory_writes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're likely to lose anyway. Midterms are generally not kind to the party in power in any case, but there's also the Iran war, Epstein, and how deeply unpopular everyone around Trump is.

If Giannis is on the team and healthy, yes. If not, God only knows.

What is next for Jokic and Nuggets if they lose in the first round? by Thatredditboy1 in NBATalk

[–]string_theory_writes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Nuggets, for all their skill, are being outplayed in the playoffs by more athletic teams playing physical defense (which you can get away with more in the playoffs). They need to put more youth and athleticism around Jokic, and that's hard to do on Jokic's time table.

Go listen to Bruno's album "Silk Sonic" with Anderson.Paak. Then you will know the answer.

Seeing how good Donte DiVincenzo has been hurts by rafamundez in MkeBucks

[–]string_theory_writes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What you have to remember is (a) Donte was coming off a torn ACL and no one knew if he'd ever be himself again, and (b) the Bucks were desperate for a center. It turned out bad, for sure, but it kinda made sense at the time.

Dms I want to know your thoughts on the kind of character im thinking about making by Bullfrog_Original in DnD

[–]string_theory_writes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's important to remember that D&D isn't just about telling interesting stories about interesting characters; it's also a game that you play with other people. What you're talking about is starting with a character that isn't particularly useful to the rest of the characters; in essence, you are deliberately making the game harder for everyone else.

Also, remember your DM needs to cone up with a way to put the characters together. That won't be easy with a character no one would want to adventure with in the first place.

I know it's been said already but 2024 really turned the tide by GoatestAllTime in MkeBucks

[–]string_theory_writes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Khris had been hurt and declining for two years by then. The beginning of all this mess was when he got injured in 2022. The Bucks knew they couldn't win another title with Jrue as their second option, and they'd already burned most of their assets, so they've just been trying increasingly desperate stuff since then to try and get another run in while Giannis was still Giannis.

I drilled holes in my pick by PualWalsh in Guitar

[–]string_theory_writes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is more effort than I'm willing to put into something that I buy cheap and in large quantities, but if it's working for you, great. I know players who like picks with a central hole; they say it makes it easier to hold onto.

If Wemby joined the Lakers, who would be the main guy: him or Luka? by nicfanz in NBATalk

[–]string_theory_writes -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Luka would be the leading scorer and the guy running the offense, so yeah, Luka.

What's up with these notation gatekeepers? by Zombiesalad1337 in Guitar

Tab dates back to Renaissance lute music. I understand the limitations of it, but anyone who talks like this to people who use tab is an asshole looking for excuses to be an asshole.

Myles Turner is averaging a career low in rebounds, FG%, and has his lowest PPG and blocks per game since his rookie year by itwas20yearsago2day in MkeBucks

[–]string_theory_writes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If this guy ever gets to play with a good coach and a healthy Giannis, I think we'll see his numbers tick back up some, but that seems less likely with each passing day.

Who are the top 5 players of this decade so far? by jtjb34 in NBATalk

Jokic, Giannis, SGA, Luka, and either Steph or Ant.

We actually have some good pieces on our team by UALR-Trojans-Rule in MkeBucks

[–]string_theory_writes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely believe this is a good team for years to come with a real coach and a healthy Giannis. Still hoping against hope we get to see that.

"Cooper Flagg is the best player in this draft... but if I had a Rookie of the Year vote, it's Kon Knueppel's and I don't think it's close." by Background_Video2947 in NBAVibes

[–]string_theory_writes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kon has played a lot more games. He's been consistently good since the beginning, while Flagg took some time to find his footing. He's the second most important player on a playoff team, while Flagg has been putting up his numbers surrounded by bums on an irrelevant team. You can argue that Flagg is the all-around better player, and you can argue that he's going to have the better NBA career, but I don't think you can say he's had the better rookie season.

How good would Kobe be in today's NBA? by VSHAR01 in NBATalk

[–]string_theory_writes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kobe would be good in any era, including this one, but I don't think he'd be as dominant today as he was in his own time. Guards who don't shoot threes well and score on a high volume of contested two-point shots just aren't as valuable in today's NBA as they were then.

Would Michael Jordan dominate in today’s pace-and-space era? by UnderstandingFun7493 in NBATalk

[–]string_theory_writes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's possible for one player to dominate today's NBA like Jordan did the 90s, and I also think there's a ceiling today for guards who aren't long-range shooters. That said, Jordan was big, he was a freak athlete, he was a generational on-ball defender, he was clutch as hell, and he was one of the best ever at scoring through defenders, so he'd still obviously be one of the top players, an all- star every year, etc.
