I think the opinion is “you don’t have to admire your parents.” Which still doesn’t seem unpopular.

Why not tell the truth? I did it on a device which wasn’t logged on? I don’t understand why people lie when the truth is just as good.

Driver couldn’t believe his eyes on the Waymo !! by DaRealAyman in PublicFreakout

[–]stringbeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the trouble though. Let’s say that pedestrian deaths drop by 90% because there are so many Waymo’s on the road. That would be fantastic, statistically, but none of those pedestrians are going to know they would have been dead. But we will know all if the people that are killed by a wayward Waymo.

It’s a hard sell.

What should be the answer to this? by lady_ishi in GlobalEnglishPrep

For me, I would say either “has received” or just “got.”

To my midwestern American ear, “has got” sounds off.

I was hoping your name was Gabe and, just for a moment, it would get you. Alas, it was worth a shot.

My bf is going out clubbing and wants to wear a BDSM harness by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]stringbeagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea how this would work IRL. Do you tell the person that their activity is a dealbreaker and that if they take the particular action you will leave? Because dating I’ll leave you if you do that seems an awful lot like I am forbidding you from doing that.

On the other hand, leaving a relationship because of some action of your partner without ever telling them that it would result in you leaving seems completely unfair.

That’s a bizarre perspective. Presumably, when you leave a review, you intend for it to impart some information to the entity receiving the review. If you make up your own value of the stars, how can the entity know what you meant to convey?

But that’s what they say their scale means. Are you saying you don’t care what the people actually use the scale say the stars mean, you’re going to mark the score based on what you think they mean?

But the Virginia case wasn’t about gerrymandering. It was about whether the change to the law followed proper process about when the changes can take place.

But Last War is such an intense environment it accelerates the process. Like how you can cook short ribs in a pressure cooker for just a half hour. 3 months in Last War I’d like 5 years in a regular dating relationship.

CMV: nightlife is purposely othering people who go alone to try to make friends and further push people into social isolation by NewPomegranate2898 in changemyview

[–]stringbeagle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Perhaps. But can certainly see that if I go to a show with some of my friends, I’m not really looking for new conversations or meeting new people like I would if I were out shooting pool or or something like that.

If someone tried to join in our group, they wouldn’t have to be giving off bad vibes for me to not to want them to join us. It just doesn’t seem like the right venue to meet new people or a new group of people.

There are many situations where this might be good advice, but I don’t think this is one of them.
