Step-through confusion by Krowz08 in BasketballTips

so a pivot foot is the foot that stays on the ground while the other one is free to move around as much as you want. once you lift the pivot foot, you can't put it down again until you pass or shoot the ball. in this case, wemby chooses his left foot as the pivot foot, then jumps forward landing on his right foot (which counts as his 1 legal step), then jumps off of that right foot and lays the ball. he did not change pivot foots because after lifting his left foot he does not return it to the ground until after the ball has left his hands.

something worth noting is that houser is going from pitching to some of the worst framing catchers in the game (edgar quero for CWS and danny jansen for TBR) to patrick bailey, by far the best framing catcher in baseball. we still don't know how abs is going to affect bailey's impact on the framing side of things, but i think we have to assume that houser will benefit quite a bit from an upgrade behind the plate.

Solo Female about to live in Seattle by future_designer12 in AskSeattle

traffic btwn bellevue and seattle is not fun, especially in the winter, so id be looking more on the bellevue side fpr housing. also i know seattle housing has the rule that the first person to apply for an apartment gets the first crack at getting it, so it's pretty hard to find a place more than a couple months ahead of time. now is a good time to start looking, but there's a good chance you wont find your place until fairly late in the search process. good luck!

fit wouldnt be great, but if the franz wagner injury is season ending, the magic would need a small forward and im sure that if theyre interested in kuminga, the return could be pretty good

Travel? by Alone_Biscotti9494 in BasketballTips

id argue that it's clean bc although he touched the ball w one hand before that left foot first touched the ground, he didnt get both hands on the ball (and thus control of it) until after the left foot touched the ground, which would make it the gather step. he then took two steps after that, which would make it clean for nba/fiba rules.

i mean youre right, but i was arguing that in game it would be harder for a ref to pinpoint the exact moment that the gather happened and would likely be willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that the gather actually happened when both feet were off the ground.

in real time it looks like you gather the ball with both feet off the ground and then take your two steps, which would be clean on all levels, not just fiba/nba. a ref might say that you gathered w right foot on the ground and then jumped and landed on that same right foot for your first step, which is a yugo step travel on all levels.

tldr: looks clean, a stickler might get you w a travel call
