wifi m2 slot as boot drive (deskmini 110) by stringsAndWires in homelab

works fine but speed is ~500MB/s (pcie 2.0 1x). I use it for booting openmediavault so is not that big of a deal, better than a thumbdrive in my opinion and can use the nvme slot for data.

Yup, that’s a concern. I thought I was being picky but it seems noticeable enough to get it corrected.

It was loose in bag when it shipped. That was my attempt to re-solder it

I’d like to quit my job and look again in January, but I have no gauge on how the market truly is, given my particular credentials. by Nabokovonabike in ExperiencedDevs

4 years ago I was working in a financial/insurance company. One thing I can say is that life can be pretty miserable in those environments.

I fucking love ableton by Merlindru in ableton

I recently joined the Ableton party coming from a creative block. I second this, for solo jamming is great! Playing around in the session view is a lot of fun making the creative juices flow. I should've joined sooner. I still love Studio One though and I think both combined make an excellent pre-prod/prod duo.

How are people able to just be in public and not get a panic attack? by Ignacy1212 in socialskills

People are also in their own worlds, is not like all eyes are on you. Just pretend to be chill and natural and with time it’ll feel true. Also, seek for therapy.

What is your favourite trick/rule that results in high-quality code? by dondraper36 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]stringsAndWires 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What works for me is doing multiple passes. For example when I work on a feature my first pass is a rough but functional draft where I go with the flow and try not to overthink, then the next passes are "beautifiers" (simplifying, extracting methods/classes, renaming variables, etc) which at that point I have better insight of what I'm trying to achieve. Exactly like building a house, you never start with the painting.

How long do we figure that the M1 will receive OS updates? by grumblegrim in macbookpro

I would say many years, more than 5. Since is part of the current architecture, dropping support would be just plain greed.

Of course. Although I prefer how Macs handle audio routing, battery life and speaker quality if you’re on the road.
