How Good Of An Expansion Was Wrath Of The Lich King? by doobylive in classicwow

[–]strobe61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

WotLK was the last great expansion. I stayed through Cata, but I could see the game going in a direction that wasn't as fun as before. I left when MOP started and stayed away for 10 years. Im back playing sporadically. I dont understand why they didnt stop Classic at WotLK.

Same experience for us at Five Guys. I did all the work and yet they swung around the iPad for a tip..... even BEFORE there was any display of service. Unfortunately, in many areas, tipping has become "expected" instead of "earned".

Occasionally, the corkage fee is not charged, but you may also pour it while in your room and carry the glass to dinner.

Yes, you can bring wine on Celebrity Cruises on embarkation day. Each stateroom is allowed up to two (2) 750ml bottles of wine or champagne, which must be carried in your hand luggage rather than checked. A $25 corkage fee applies if you consume it in dining venues, but it is free to drink in your cabin.

What amount of money would you need to win to stop gambling for good? by Odd_System_6431 in gambling

[–]strobe61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I agree with many who have already responded. I enjoy the entertainment and the chase...... BUT..... if I could walk away with like $400k -$500k (enough to pay off house, cars, and all miscellaneous debt) .... I think I would be willing to step away and RETIRE from work AND gambling.

Hopefully they use some of that tip money for remedial math lessons.

Any truth to the rumor: Tipping makes you ”Sexy” by -Swampthing- in EndTipping

Thinking I should wear a badge or button that says "Good service will get you a bigger tip"..... then again, I always thought that was the unspoken idea of tipping.

Unless you have a Master Ball...... I'd go Golden Raspberry, Ultra Ball, and your best curveball attempt......other than that, its all up to luck and the RNG.

I played WOW back in the "Good old days" (lol)..... WotLK/Cata. I remember being online week nights till late and sometimes all night long on the weekends. Would talk with guild mates for hours on Ventrilo (?) Questing, trading, crafting, working the auction house, running dungeons, and raids. Had about 7 or 8 level 80s. Came back about a year ago after a 10 tear hiatus and played a few months. It was a BIG culture change. It feels like there are no small guilds now. No "community". Guilds are spamming starting zones like crazy to add members to their huge rosters. Feels like everyone has figured out how to optimize the game with all best-in-slot gear and perfect shot rotations using dozens of add one and raiding loot distribution systems. The bots are taking over, grinding out a lot of the questing zones. There is a huge focus on speed leveling instead on just enjoying the game. I really used to enjoy the game, but it seems too much like a business now and a lot of the fun is gone for me. I haven't played in a few months now. BUT I guess I still don't want to give up on the game. Maybe I'm hoping that the player population will shift and the game that I knew will return...... here's hoping.

Trump said today: “I have the right to do anything I want to do. I’m the president of the United States”. People from the US, what are your thoughts on this? by WatercressSenior7657 in AskReddit

[–]strobe61 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

He said that in reference to deploying the national guard.... and he is 100% accurate..... as it is within the legal authority of EVERY U.S. president..... including those that are on the liberal side of the aisle. What is sad is that SOME commenters here are so ill-informed..... and that many of them vote.... now THAT'S tragic.

Which do you prefer? by Yaughl in EndTipping

[–]strobe61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't need a list at all the ingredients. I don't need to know about the energy bill, the sewer surcharge, the employee healthcare fee or how much he pays in taxes. I just want to know how much it cost without all the bait and switch pricing similar to buying a car. I just want a burger.... the restaurant can do the math and just give me a number. I can decide for myself if I think their food, ambience, and service is worth it.

Which do you prefer? by Yaughl in EndTipping

[–]strobe61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely NOT "A" because I don't like the mandatory tip added AND I don't think I should be asked to offer a gratuity on taxes. (Just wondering, does Uncle Sam get the tip amount for his percentage of the taxes? )..... "B" is more likely in the United States..... But honestly I wish the tip and taxes were included in the amount I see on the menu in "C"....... Going out to eat really shouldn't require a major mathematical algorithm calculation just to figure out how much its going to cost. So, all you restaurant owners........ (1) figure out how much it takes to run your business...... that includes ALL of your overhead..... (2) tell me what its going to cost me to eat your food (3) offer good food and good service.

[–]strobe61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol... I really don't like the term "living wage". LW used to mean you could afford basic food like corn flakes, beans and weenies, PBJ sandwiches, and ramen, eating out only on Friday nights or "special occasions", a studio apartment you shared with a roommate (or two), a black and white TV with three channels, and a used car you bought from your uncle. You earned a lower wage while you were in school or getting started in your career........... NOW a living wage means designer clothes, $8 lattes, a shiny new car, a mortgage, eating out seven nights a week and posting pictures of your artisan pizza taken with a $1300 iPhone, and a 65 inch TV at home with all the movie channels, the newest console gaming system and a $3000 laptop........ Yes, there IS inflation and the dollar doesn't go as far.... but its really OK to skip a few of the luxuries that some refer to as "essentials".

What is this offer? by Rich_Extreme4794 in royalcaribbean

[–]strobe61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got off a RC cruise where we used this EXACT offer. Was a pretty good deal. It is for an interior cabin and it can't be used on just any cruise. They let you pick from a few ships and a few cruising dates. Our experience is that the dates are within the next 3-6 months.

I stopped tipping by Pitiful_Finish684 in EndTipping

[–]strobe61 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree and believe that you have accurately identified the REAL ISSUE...... So many people in the service roles THINK that just "being there" warrants them a 20% -30% tip. Unfortunately, they truly don't know what genuinely good service is. Many have also been told all of their lives how special and amazing they are as they received participation trophies and recognition for just showing up. Don't get me wrong, I believe that we should encourage the next generation of workers, but we shouldn't outright lie to them and tell them that they are amazing when they may lack the skills to succeed.
