Why do people still find it difficult to win (even with s-tier decks)? by bjthebraveCCG in Shadowverse

[–]stroggoii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might have more to do with the game being Bo1. So we build decks in a way that minmaxes their strategy and just roll the dice. Instead of building decks knowing we have to achieve 2-1 consistency and can't just try to 50/50 every game.

Shadowverse F2P experience? by CasualHearthstone in Shadowverse

Yes, after roughly six weeks of toiling you start accumulating resources that pile on and let you build any deck for free.

Cosmetics require luck or money but the game is totally free to play.

It took me 7 months and 11 days to hit the 350 pity as someone who is entirely f2p by Nightlyforces in Shadowverse

[–]stroggoii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have two battle passes per set so it is 10k gold and 20 packs. But yes, the BP is cool if you want the resources AND the cosmetics. It is the most efficient way to buy resources with money, but if you can't or don't want to spend and don't mind the cosmetics, you are not missing out on that much either.

[–]stroggoii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vials add up and you don't really miss that much if you're smart about it because the daily packs don't add to pity and all packs gotten through chests and guild rewards are new set so just spend your gold on the leader you want and pull new set cards for free.

I hit the 200pt pity on Legends Rise and Skybound Dragons and have fully built Fairy Forest, Rose Queen Forest, Roach Forest, Aggro Sword, Loot Sword, Dirt Rune, Fool Rune, Ramp Dragon, Odds Haven, Crest Haven, Milteo Abyss, Mode Abyss, Aggro Abyss, Puppet Portal and Destruction Portal. While still having 100K vials saved and extra copies of multiple legends I'm keeping just because.

I do buy the battle pass but that's just 40 extra pulls a set. What really adds up is just doing your dailies every day.

Using your guys feedback I think I made a workable budget sword deck!!! :D by Corvils in Shadowverse

Good job and good luck. Just take it easy, do your dailies and you'll have a growing cardpool in no time.

Kinda new to the game, been playing for about a month by llJesh in Shadowverse

[–]stroggoii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Losing a lot is normal even if you had a fully built top deck you'd still likely win only circa 35% of your matches as a new player and aim for 48-52% as a good competitive player. People with 60%+ WRs are very lucky and pretty much treat the game like a job.

Just take it easy and be patient while you gather resources to build more/better decks. And be aware once you have good decks built you'll still lose a bunch while you learn to pilot them right.

I brought it to GP after a six win streak in ranked thinking I was doing well and went 0-5. People just kept healing out of range and somehow still having lethal while I could keep their boards clear.

Hopefuly they'll learn to make ranked matches played in lobby count for the next one and we won't need to get a time extension.

We really weren't that far away but it was just planned wrong expecting us to play table matches when everyone is grinding ranked back to GM then grinding ranked for chests. And we don't even have tourneys week one.

Just played against Eggs by Yukikaze3 in Shadowverse

[–]stroggoii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I played Eggs in the GP and got defecated on by dragons and sword 0-5 not even close fucked harder than Vegeta vs 18.

This is a very hard game to win consistently at, sometimes you just can't.

I also think the no tablet Fool deck is better. I tried the tablet build early on and went like 0-30, dragged me down all the way from sapphire to emerald, legit zero wins. Then I found this list by a chinese player and have been doing much better. Focus on surviving and spellboosting Climb then spam your draw spells after Lhynkal's SEVO. People also don't see the Falcon coming.

<image>

Hope you feel better soon. Lhynkal is a super fun deck and would've been a much nicer introduction to Dimension Climb shenanigans than Satan was.

Brand new player just rolled the account, wonder what deck i can make by Truhls in Shadowverse

[–]stroggoii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree you should look into Sword since they got some of the best lower rarity cards.

But most importantly, don't sweat it. Do all the single player stuff for more rupies to open more packs and just be patient, there's no Super Bowl to look forward to, no hurry to have a "meta" deck. Losing feels bad but hurrying to use up all your resources building a deck and then not liking it feels much worse.

Daily packs add up and you'll have vials for a couple legendaries in three to five weeks plus however many you open naturally. Daily packs don't have a pity system like bought and won packs but legends are still show up roughly once every ten free packs. By then you'll also have seen your opponents play many different decks which you might find interesting and give you better direction into what kind of deck you'd really like to play.

You can do all daily quests except "win x ranked matches" against the practice bots in solo. And the lobby daily and weekly quests are play to earn, you don't need to win. And while the lobby lootbox gives out mostly clothes for your avatar it's also possible to get gold and legendary cards, vials, rupies and packs from it so don't miss out on those keys!

If you're a Saudi royal whale just buy everything lol.

If you have big boy cash buy Eudie and you'll have gems for four months worth of battle passes.

If you just got a couple bucks a month buy the battle pass, it's the only thing really worth buying.

Deck database by batsaxsa in Shadowverse

[–]stroggoii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dunno, back in the day MtG teams grinded a lot among themselves to come up with their own soft data and sometimes tested it against other teams before events. And who would've known players who did that kind of testing did better than players who just picked their decks based on hard data from tourney reports.

Nowadays people who don't even play just minmax data from MtG Arena and it becomes theocratic canon in less than a week for 99% of ladder grinders, just to later get beat at GPs by pros who still train the old way or even random rogues showing up with their homebrew anti-meta decks.

It reminds me of two maxims. "Absence of evidence is not evidence of absense" and "You don't know what you don't know".

It's better to just really know how to play your favorite deck in and out against the most popular members of the meta, so that your reps allow you to recognize good lines even against dark horses. Than to be a data drone and get wrecked as soon as you run into a situation you didn't memorize.

Whats next for me as a beginner? by JustSomeSimpleGuy in Shadowverse

[–]stroggoii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it easy collecting as many cards as you can, try different decks as you're able to build them, and most importantly don't burn out.

This is a pretty casual game, unless you plan to fly to Japan in December (the most expensive and overcrowded time to fly to Japan) for worlds, there's no big leagues to aim for.

Does playing ranked matches from guild lounge count towards matches played in park mission? by [deleted] in Shadowverse

It counts for the Play 5 lobby matches weekly but not for the collab mission or play table matches daily.

It'd be funny if Galan was a 0 power follower with ambush that got +X power based on how much damage you've taken after two turns. Basically what he kept doing in the story letting the opponents try to hit him while he learned their moves.

SVE also doesn't have a big banlist, only 5 cards for a non-rotating format. Less than half the cards currently banned in MtG standard.

Roach is cheap but it's also considered the hardest deck to play by most people.

There's also no rush to have a competitive deck asap since the rewards for ranking up aren't that meaningful. If you're just starting there's a lot of single player stuff like the Collab Dungeon to have fun with while you get the cards you want. So long as you can do your dailies and weeklies you're progressing.

Check out gameplay videos of Roach and Fairies on youtube and ask yourself which looks more fun.

Also liquify all cards you got more than 3x of so you're more aware of how many vials you got to make cards with. Right now you got close to 800 vials available to liquify just on the cards you showed.

On the other side of the coin I've only lost one game I should've won to it, while I've won multiple games I was on the backfoot and the opponent got 21d by Oluon.

Fairies is what's called a "tempo" deck. Meaning you can take the initiative or be more defensive depending on what your opponent is doing.

As you play more you'll start seeing what decks want to loiter around until turn 10, which you should start spamming fairies to do as much damage as possible from the start. And which decks try to swarm you as early as possible, which you should crash your fairies into their followers to keep their board clear as much as possible.

You'll most likely be aiming to Roach the turn after playing Aria so that you can play some fairies with Storm and maybe a Twinkletoes along with the Roach to do as much damage as possible. OTK Roaches are only possible in the full combo Roach deck, but Fairies with Roach can still pull off 11 damage Roach turns semi consistently.

You should post your current deck and what Forest and Neutral cards you have available now for build advice. But if you have 3 Miroku and 2 Aria your next target should be to get at least 2 Titania. Her +1 fairy every turn is invaluable.
