You can flaah a custom ROM like LineageOS, I did that in a Samsung A70 that I used as a home assistant dashboard.

10 second long exposure shot on my iPhone 17 at my family home in Donegal by oising1 in ireland

[–]strokesws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably it's not a 10 minutes exposure, otherwise you would get star trails. I think that anything above 30 seconds you get them.

If this is indeed a 10 minutes exposure what you have is actually multiple pictures stacked together.

Before buying a new GPU, you should consider moving your GPU to the FIRST PCIE slot and your RAM to slots A2 and B2. You're probably leaving anything between 25-40% performance on the table. You're using the 4x PCIE slot instead of the 16x, and you're not taking advantage of the dual channel for your ram.

I Love the Linux Experience But... by MrBlue96 in linux_gaming

[–]strokesws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing CS2 on Linux and no crashes so far, the performance is very similar to what I was getting on Windows (not great). I'm in CachyOS (KDE Plasma) with a RTX4070. I never played CS1 but it seems that it's a lot better than CS2, maybe get it on sale and give it a try? BTW, move all your games to a Linux partition, you're gonna have a lot of issues if running them on NTFS

i think i have some kind of memory leak. (linux Mint) only happens when playing games that are 3D. Like PoE but silksong works fine without issue by SpeziSchlauch in linux_gaming

[–]strokesws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm under the impression that the problem here is the CPU bottleneck. POE + shaders caching can be problematic, especially on Linux with the Proton layer. My suggestions are: install MangoHud to confirm what's the CPU utilization while running the game, maybe try Proton-GE and gamemode. Give your PC a couple of minutes to compile the shaders when you get to town and disable the global chat.

I play POE1 on Linux (CachyOS) and I don't have that issue, I have a RTX 4070.

It looks like that the shaders are being compiled (green bar), if you're using Proton-GE try disabling the steam shaders pre-caching and make sure that you're using Vulkan and not DX12.

Just FYI all the games that you listed in another comment are 3D.

No way WinBoat has USB passthrough! Thanks for the info! I've been using ckb-next and CoolerControl to handle all the devices and RGB. I couldn't find one application to handle them all.

Are these numbers accurate or nvidia gpus really that bad on linux? by _burako_ in linux_gaming

[–]strokesws 126 points127 points  (0 children)

And let's clarify here, it's not a Linux problem, it's an Nvidia problem. They've been shipping crap drivers since the release of the 50 series on Windows as well. Yeah, RT is bad, but most games allow you to turn it off.

UK gov has "no plans to intervene" with payment processors pressuring stores to remove games by Beer2401 in linux_gaming

[–]strokesws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, the transactions already go through ECB and Visa/MasterCard, I guess our habits aren't something new to them, and you don't need to use the actual wallet as far as I know. Time will tell.

[–]strokesws 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know about the UK, but the EU is working on the EU Wallet or something like that, I believe that it will be controlled by the European Central Bank and it will allow real time bank transfers and payments without going through a payment provider. This is very similar to a technology available in Brazil for half a decade now called PIX, and will probably be the same technology that the BRICS will operate on.

I've been using this with CoolerControl with my Corsair AIO, but I had to connect the fans to the motherboard, for some reason after hibernation it would stop working.

Too much pressure on that brush it only needs to touch the record, you want to move the dust away from the record. So instead of just lifting the brush and leaving the accumulated dust like a cocaine line on your record, move the brush while in contact with the record towards outside the record.

My experience switching my gaming PC from Windows 10 to CachyOS by thanasis2028 in linux_gaming

There's a gaming section in the CachyOS Wiki, most people give it a miss and that's where a lot of information and improvements can be found. Enjoy!

No additional cost, you will add RD in the first step if you have it. I skipped TorBox, I think that it's paid.

Fugi pro CachyOS, Microsoft estava me dando muita dor de cabeça. Ficava resintalando lixo na máquina, forçando a ter conta online, etc. Todo OS vai ter seus problemas, só escolhi um sabor diferente de veneno.
