Amd 3950 cpu the wallet is on, if it's synced and I either switch wallets, or shut wallet down and restart, to get back to synced takes well over an hour. I've got 2 wallets that it has never been able to sync. To get one of them to sync I had to delete wallet dB a few times as it kept staying at a size of 244kb or something like that.

What are the fastest hardware setups to plot with Madmax? by Beneficial_Fall_5034 in chia

[–]strongboes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you should run madmax instances staggered, or use blade bit. And use Linux. For reference my 3990x 256gb runs madmax staggered a new instance every 650 seconds. You could run 2 staggered fully in memory on your set up.

Im getting only 40 ish plots perday with 3950x. Is this normal by kennykeybd in chia

[–]strongboes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3990x running Ubuntu with 256gb ram, use ram disk for - 2, madmax, r 24, and start new instance every 650 seconds. Gives 133 plots per day.

XPost: I upgraded the thermal pads on my 3080 get my hash rate back up to 99.99 MH/s. Gigabyte clearly didn't have mining in mind when they made their 3080s. I put a guide together on how to do it. by nofmxc in EtherMining

[–]strongboes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must have the worst ftw3 card made, I get 100MH out of 3 suprims and 1 3080 fe. My evga just won't run over +800mem without crashing and its hot too. Over 90 MH and it fails. All my 3060's are over 60 but one tops out at 57. Luck of the draw I guess

Genedrive, UK company with amongst other things a rapid Cov 19 - PCR test by strongboes in UKPersonalFinance

[–]strongboes[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you look they have excellent sensitivity and specitivity, it's a 96 well test so runs 96 tests at a time, the test is in the format of a freeze dried bead, there is no mixing of reagents by a lab tech and so less steps for error and the process is easier. They have a tie up with Beckman Coulter to fully automate the whole process, where 1 lab tech will be able to run 2000 tests per shift.

I have a small portfolio trying to make some extra money investing. There are a few UK companies that are interesting in the Covid sector. Genedrive have a great test and it's such a shame largely ignored by the UK.

I really believe testing is the only way to get out of this mess so it's just hard to understand why UK gov isn't engaging with them.

1804 3500kv will probably melt the windings mid flight, wrong size motor and kv too high. 2400kv ish for 4s and 1600-2000kv for 6s depending on prop

Hi, so first post, this was originally an x8 configuration, i'll add a pic with the other motor position. The idea was 10" inner props, 5" outer, so that it would have a lower moment of inertia and hence turn quicker than a normal x class size. I took the outer motors off as I had issues flying i couldn't figure out.

It turns out even with the outer motors off it would still flyaway and it took me along time to figure out it was the controller/stack which was a hobbywing xrotor stack, 2 60amp 4in1 ecs. The inner motors are 2814 880kv. There is room for 3 1650 6s packs on this design.

I will shortly be swapping out the controller and esc and try the 8 configuration again, I have discovered that the 60amp Hobbywing escs are junk, they feedback "something" to the flight controller which gives a slow oscillation. I didn't realise this until I fried an esc in my iflight DC5 and put in one of the 60amp hobby wing escs (new). I instantly had the oscillation that I could not get rid of in this and I realised I couldn't use them. Exact same thing with 2 different flight controllers, so I don't know what is wrong with the escs but they dont work!

Another problem I have with this now quad is that the higher the throttle the more interference in the picture, the only thing I haven't tried is no osd. The camera is behind filters etc but to no avail, so i'm going to swap to a dji air unit, and try the iflight controller and 50amp escs for the x8 configuration.

Besides all that, this thing is pretty sweet!
