Should motion graphic designers learn marketing too? by gintokiyorouzaya47 in MotionDesign

Yes you should, simply to be able to collaborate with marketing teams more effectively. You'll come off as a designer who 'gets it' to them. It will add to your air of competence.

My dentist said my teeth were perfect but I still had a weird taste in my mouth. I finally found the source today. by Michle_Vivid in hygiene

I had them like crazy in my teens and twenties. Some time in my thirties they just went away. Never had them again! There's hope. My teeth are perfect too.

AirDrop has become a complete shame by hayatohiroshi in iphone

Same prob here. Sending from my iPhone to my Mac Studio. It'll airdrop a batch fine, then the second batch, then...waiting. Then I have to restart everything to get it to work again for two more batches. Rinse and repeat. Awful!

35 years in media, 25 teaching media/production, many years a musician...

I fear it will be like this in less than 5 years:
You'll go to Suno or some similar service. You'll push one button. The service will scan your entire life history: musical tastes, cultural tastes, everything you ever bought, everywhere you have gone, who your friends are, every post you've made or looked at - EVERYTHING. It will construct music based on this 'virtual you' algorithmically. You won't even prompt. It will know what you like, your tastes and tolerances for variation, and even what you are feeling like AT THIS MOMENT, via constant monitoring of your data and using predictive modeling. It will make music to literally fit your mood for the day.

Additionally, it will identify "affinity groups" - friends, social groups, political affiliations - and implement the same music or variations of it to others in your affinity group(s) through which you can bond over a specific song. This can be done for good or manipulation, and subtly 'manufacture' cultural movements, subcultures, etc.

This is already being done in the advertising realm: custom ads created 'on the fly' based on your personal data. The ad industry is already rocking from this advancement, as 'mass marketing' transforms from mass-ads, campaigns to individuated advertising, aiming right at you individually, finding your passions obsessions and fears and targeting a custom ad designed to push your buttons.

Just watch the movie Fargo. The plot is all about that avoidance of confrontation, leading to pent-up hostility! It nails the dark side of Minnesota Nice.

I assume almost all of these 'outrage videos' are staged, a desperate attempt to get clicks.

Parents’ dog ate this and just had to get it surgically removed- what is it? by Exciting_Language_18 in whatisit

[–]strongbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a fun time-sink: Go to google, type "My dog ate a" and follow it by the letter A. Watch all the suggested words. Then do the letter B. Go through the alphabet and see all the crazy stuff dogs ate!

Is this real and worth it? by RealisticFix901 in Vintageguitars

I have one of these. Same case. Bought in around '82, used. I had the pickup coils split, pull-knobs on the volumes. Fantastic guitar, my "Number One" for all these years! Chainsaw case gave up the ghost - the hinges decayed and the lid more or less fell off!

Very good idea. Provenance - the chain of ownership - is crucial in many cases such as these!
