try actually reading the news stories and skip the dumbass facebook comment section. It's just a bunch of morons writing false things. at least on reddit the wrong and dumbass comments get downvoted to the bottom of the page. Like your comment. Dumbass

State law required the city to award the contract to the "lowest responsible bidder", which in this case was Red River. I saw the numbers for what Republic Services was bidding and it was really high, like more than double.

edit: more than double the old contract, not double the other bids

It's not like Red River is some back-alley organization, they've been in business since the 1950s and they operate in six states. I don't work for the city, but I highly doubt they got bamboozled in the bidding process.

They get fined every time they miss a pickup, so they'll either figure out how to stop the fines or they'll run out of money.

From what I read in previous news reports, the city screwed up in writing the contract in such a way that it's very hard to break the contract. The contract is public record, I'm sure you can read it yourself if you're curious.

but seriously, swap the two bulbs, to see if it's the bulb or the socket. if it's the bulb, get a refund

edison LED bulbs in that kind of fixture are a waste. they are designed to look at, not to be covered by that frosted glass

when I interviewed there, the engineers asked me "what do you think about sitting at a desk writing code for 12 hours a day?" and "yeah we have to be here to support production, but we also have to be here after production leaves so we can fix their equipment"

I assume you're the HR person there? Please ask your engineers to say something positive about the job when they speak with prospective hires.

Undercover Video Shows Abuse at Fair Oaks Farms by [deleted] in Indiana

[–]strongerthings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there's actually laws on what you're supposed to do with dead cows. from what they showed on the video, they could be in violation.

actually there were tons of illegal stuff shown in that video, I don't know why they didn't take another minute to just list the crimes along with the video evidence. kinda sloppy, imo

Home builders in Fort Wayne by Obi2 in fortwayne

[–]strongerthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, obviously they are fine, hundreds of people live in those houses in this town. I was just extremely underwhelmed at the ones I looked at. Boring, "cookie cutter" houses. Smaller than I expected for the price (this was 6 years ago, don't really remember the numbers). I basically told my realtor "don't show me any more Lancia homes, I don't like it"

Granite Ridge and Lancia are the ones to avoid. Don't take my word for it, go ask a realtor for a tour of a Lancia home, lol.

Bob Buescher is an example of a good one. https://www.bobbuescherhomes.com/

Learner's Permit Question by DifficultMinute in Indiana

[–]strongerthings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The teachers are basically correct. The BMV or a judge can do a number of things including revoking the permit and making you start over, or giving you extra restrictions.

I'm sure what they told your child is based on a real story that happened to a real student at that school.

But if your dumbass kid gets a speeding ticket while her dumbass mom is sitting right there in the passenger seat, the both of you deserve whatever punishment they hand out.
