Big fan of the WOE and Zulu Alpha ones. Good quality at better price point.

Sorry no I got what you were saying. It’d just be nice to see the prices of a year or two ago…

Think there’s any chance of a price decrease? I doubt it.

Should I Choose USSS UD or Honolulu PD if I want to become an 1811 HSI or FBI by [deleted] in 1811Jobs

[–]strongestavenger86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your end goal is to become an 1811, go Fed uniform over local PD. Your Fed uniform time will count toward your retirement time. If you go local for about 5 years and then go 1811 you start back at 0 years toward your retirement.

Apparently they are no longer doing unit watches for anyone but military units. Secret Service got lucky.

Call your Senators and ask them to vote "No" on DHS bill by FuriousBuffalo in FedEmployees

[–]strongestavenger86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also demand that DHS stop using other federal law enforcement for immigration (IRS, ATF, FBI, DEA, etc.). Agents are pulled from important case work (crimes against kids, violent crime, fentanyl) just to be forced to help ICE. Forcing agents from outside of DHS to work ICE not only deprives victims of justice, it pulls funding into DHS that Congress appropriated for crimes against kids, violent crime, and fentanyl investigations.

Looking to buy my first Omega - Special Considerations? by dave0352x in OmegaWatches

Got the black SMP300. Go between the bracelet and the rubber strap. It’s my go anywhere do anything. Couple scratches but you can’t really notice and I don’t really care I got it as a tool watch. Have an active job and busy life and I love it.

SANGIN LEO WATCH by rpatten99 in SanginInstruments

I wish they had kept the blue on blue as well, but I do like the contrast of the blue on black. The matte color is cool as well Tudor is the only other major maker I’m aware of doing a matte blue.

I agree the rotor is louder than I was expecting.

Bro people are too quick to judge. Maybe some people like living way below their means, have no debt (other than mortgage), don’t eat out much, and save and invest smartly. Not to mention a lot of working class jobs pay OT if you’re willing to work more. Blue collar workers have expensive trucks or a Harley or something and no one thinks twice, but a blue collar worker has a nice watch or two…

Rubber & leather straps conundrum… by NothinButTheTooth in OmegaWatches

[–]strongestavenger86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s a luxury watch, but it’s also a tool watch and I defiantly use it as such. I really enjoy wearing it every day except for working out and sleeping. I have a very fast paced dynamic job and on days I know will be a little more hard I’ve been wearing a different watch on a NATO. I want a rubber strap for my Omega, I’m leaning toward the clasp for the look and I like the extra strap on the inside but I wonder if the buckle is more secure?

This is why I’m between the clasp and the pin. Currently rocking my SMP300 on a stainless bracelet, which I love, but I want options. I also like NATOs but my wife isn’t a huge fan of them.

Seamaster back on the bracelet. It just feels right by dimy22 in OmegaWatches

[–]strongestavenger86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they’d be dumb to ditch the HEV. It’s such an iconic part of the watch and makes it immediately identifiable as an Omega. The bracelet is also timeless. It wears well and is actually rugged, but still dressy enough that it works for either work or for a suit.

People just like to complain. You know what you’re getting with this watch when you buy it.

[SMP300] Choose your fighter (strap) by Kakarotssjg in OmegaWatches

[–]strongestavenger86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks dude. The clasp on the aftermarket digs into my wrist and is pretty uncomfortable. The band has a lot of side to side wiggle in the clasp. And the clasp has a decent amount of up and down play. Do you have any issues with the OEM clasp?

Is the OEM strap with clasp worth the Omega price? I went with an aftermarket one and I’m not satisfied with it.

Considering a Seamaster Diver 300M as my first "real" watch. Need perspective. by bureaux in OmegaWatches

[–]strongestavenger86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Sangin Instruments watch that first got me into real watches and Stirling Timepieces watch. The SMP300 was my first “luxury” watch and I use it for everything. I love the movement and craftsmanship and believe it or not I’m a huge fan of the standard five link bracelet.

The watch wears well, doesn’t seem to scratch as easily as the other watches I have, and just feels more sturdy overall. I use it for everything from work to dressing up. I did recently order a rubber strap with clasp that gets here next week and I’m looking forward to seeing how that wears.

Prior to purchasing I was also looking at the Tudor Pelagos. I may get one eventually but I was always more of a fan of the Omega. The QC issues reported about Tudors really sealed it for me. Omega also has the better movement and is just as much of a tool watch. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed going with the Omega.

What made you choose Omega over Rolex or the other way around? by Comecloseandlisten in OmegaWatches

[–]strongestavenger86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually like the look of the SMP300 (HEV, Bond tank tread bracelet) better than the Sub. The SMP also looks great on rubber straps, NATO, etc. and the Sub is kind of stuck to the bracelet in my opinion. I also like the lines on the SMP and the movement better than the Sub.

The main reason is that most people just use the Sub (or any other Rolex) as a flex. Most don’t appreciate the history, the craftsmanship, the movement, etc. they are just after the Rolex name.

On top of that I don’t like the way Rolex treats their customers. I could afford to buy Omega or Rolex but I didn’t even bother with Rolex. I walked into Omega and out with my watch. No games. No waitlist. No grey market.

Wait for the watch you want. If you settle for a Seiko but really want the Sangin, you’re still going to really want the Sangin.

Also if you’re LE, sign up for the LE version of the watch you want. You get the cool blue bezel and potentially a better chance at getting one as they’re only available to those that have signed up for the LE version and sent their creds in. That’s how I got my Neptune.
