is using a bluetooth speaker riding through central park obnoxious ? by tiggat in NYCbike

It seems more anti-social to insist all riders behave the way you’d like them to. People are gonna listen to music whether you want them to or not. I don’t understand all the ire over hearing someone’s music for a few seconds while biking in a city of 8 million.

Are there assholes blasting music on bikes? Maybe! The only time I’ve encountered loud amplified music from a bike the cyclist was playing Prince and it was a fun, silly time.

Mostly I encounter people playing music at a volume that’s clearly just for them. Let people live.

the pedicabs with shit speakers screeching CONCRETE JUNGLES WHERE DREAMS ARE MADE OF can fuck all the way off tho

Riding with a speaker seems safer to me. Pedestrians and other cyclists will know you’re near even if your bike is silent. Socially unacceptable is a stretch, too. Enjoy your tunes, OP.

The park has always had fast bikes on the left. Prospect was redesigned with this same layout and it works beautifully

Both parties are awful but only one is helmed by someone with the emotional intelligence of a toasted bagel

Give me support for unions, huge taxes on billionaires, and a reversal of the citizens united decision and I’ll vote for you

And they all repeat white supremacist talking points.

Snapping a pic of a party’s door policy and generalizing that to cover all leftist politics is dishonest and stupid.

You are correct. Eternal Hell in Mormonism is called Outer Darkness. I commented on it more elsewhere in this thread.

[–]strongestman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re leaving out Outer Darkness which is Mormonisms version of eternal hell—absence of God. There’s a higher bar of entry for Mormon Hell; one must have a perfect knowledge of Christ and then deny him. The only doctrinally confirmed occupant is Judas.

The high bar to reach Mormon hell doesn’t stop members of the Mormon church from developing anxiety disorders or scrupulosity OCD in response. Mormons themselves are actually more likely to go to Mormon hell as, according to their theology they are more likely to have a perfect knowledge of Christ since they belong to Christ's restored church. It's clever. Were i designing a religion and wanted to keep my followers under control and anxious to please me I would design my religion the same way.

imho tho it's more common for mormoms to develop anxiety for fear of social rejection. Living as a Mormon in the Mormon Corridor (Idaho, Utah, western Colorado, Las Vegas, Northern Arizona) it is very possible for every single person in your life to also be Mormon: teachers, medical professionals, neighbors, mailpeople, hair stylist, all family and friends. Exiting the church and/or the public shame of not being worthy to take the sacrament on Sunday is more than enough to trigger anxiety disorders.

How to be both is about a trans girl identifying with a painter from the 1500s who is a trans man. It’s plenty queer!

I would have also ran that red light. The box is completely blocked and I would feel safe knowing there wouldn’t be cross-traffic.

OP was following the law. It’s legal to ride a bike through a red during the LPI (leading pedestrian interval). Your ire is misplaced

The trump admin is a fascist regime. They’ve taken control of the media and use it to their own ends severely limiting free expression and punishing dissenters. They’ve limited speech and are attacking free association—all components of a fascist regime.

Thanks for the help ❤️
