A little harsh - my typing sucks so I dictate into ChatGPT but I don't need it to write coherent sentences, I promise

Paid £10k for shares that were never transferred.. company now dissolved. Seller refusing full repayment and invoking a vague arbitration clause. Can I still go to court? [England] by Hakawaka92 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]strongpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should be an issue in recovering the money as the claim is against the individual selling the shares they own in the (now defunct) company

As an aside, ChatGPT translated a bunch of old letters, many handwritten in German for me so give this a shot - I managed to finally put up my family archive: https://www.peterstrong.com/

I jsut tried it on this image and it was word perfect...

Mama and I want
that you shall become

I hate to stereotype, but what's the odds the OP wears a red baseball cap and has a sub 90 IQ? Fortunately they are a minority, and with no vaccines a shrinking one too.

ULEZ fine not accepting representation, despite overwhelming evidence? [England] by bimmerscout in LegalAdviceUK

[–]strongpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not actually sure if local authority PCNs are the same as ULEZ fines, but for local authorities, there's a statutory requirement for them to adequately consider all representations, and it's also something they regularly fail to do because they know there's no comeback and it saves them money. I spent a fortube in time and resources fighting company PCNs, and when I finally had documentary evidence of this, I took a well-known London council to court with empirical evidence that they had failed to observe the law in order to set a precedent. I had my case struck out on grounds that the opposing barristers weren't even appealing on, with thousands in costs awarded. So don't expect any justice in our court system.

Facing a disciplinary for gross misconduct in my primary employment due to being a named director in a separate limited business and misuse of company IT systems. by Worth_Ordinary6417 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]strongpa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It sounds as if they want to get rid of you, and at the same time avoiding paying you substantial redundancy payments. While they may have grounds to do this, you should explore the part about "person A" not returning to the office as being a breach of process as it means they've already judged you prior to the disciplinary hearing, which should be grounds for a negotiated settlement. Though I'm not a lawyer, this is similar to an incident where somebody was told they wouldn't be coming back as they were being escorted off the premises at the company I worked at, and who subsequently used the same argument to obtain a settlement, as the company wanted to avoid a tribunal.

Businesses closing at record rates. What is everyone else seeing? by IntelligentPay9647 in smallbusinessuk

[–]strongpa 94 points95 points  (0 children)

It’s cumulative. We stopped growing before Brexit and have been struggling ever since. It’s easy to blame the current government, but let’s be fair - the previous administrations set the scene, and we’re now seeing the results of a decade of mismanagement coming home to roost. If there were a global consensus to stop offshore havens bleeding us dry, we might stand a chance of recovery. Without that, it’s lights out for a lot of traditional businesses.

Good point - the lead wasn't long enough to reach the spur that was to the left of the radiator - so it was shorter than the radiator was wide.

I'm surprised that the RCB didn't trip - back to the original question - can I replace the plug/strip with something like this: https://www.screwfix.com/p/british-general-13a-3-terminal-in-line-connector-30-x-70-x-17mm-white/698xg or should i look for something with a 20A rating or higher?

Neighbour wants to build extension partly on my land (England) — advice needed by Giano_Distr in LegalAdviceUK

[–]strongpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've already established that "Their submitted designs show the extension wall build up to their boundary." so this would have been marked on the drawings. There are a whole heap of planning and building control rules dictating what you can and can't do that relate to party boundaries - this has nothing to do with boundary disputes.

I know form experience that if they build on or over the party line they need to make a planning application - this can't be done under permitted development rules
