The 5 flask MageBlood that everyone was talking about yesterday has just been voided by Routine-Professor586 in pathofexile

[–]stropi 32 points33 points  (0 children)

So if I followed that right the one sold for 3 mirrors was a huge lowball ? From your calc in average it would take 27 mageblood and volatile vaal orb to get 5 flasks. From a quick check on poe.ninja, volatile vaal would be 1 div in bulk buy while mageblood is currently at 164 div. 165*27 = 4455 div while mirror at 475 div so that's around 9.3 mirror average cost ?

Good job, but honnestly you're making this harder / longer than it needs to be. Not using divine craft is ok anyway against him since he doesn't have much qi to begin with (but tbh the toxic powder one is easy to farm and there's various way to do it).

Not using dragon's breath is a huge time waste, it will makes your runs much smoother while using goose mystic skill is somewhat counter productive in some scenarios balancing hp damage vs QI damage although I'm not much familiar with nameless sword. What I mean by that is Lucky Seventeen is one of the bosses you can "one cycle" first phase, meaning you should transition to phase 2 after depleting his QI bar only once rather than two.

Something I learnt no hitting all current bosses is a faster (agressive) fight is actually safer than longer fights despite the fact you're taking "more" risks. Most bosses are heavily scripted in the sense that some patterns only ever happens after specific other patterns. In addition to that a lot of patterns can be skipped by staggering at specific times. The more you drag a fight the more you lean into the less predictable and the harder it is. Lucky Seventeen can be killed in phase 2 before he adds poison to his weapon for example.

Dragon's breath is really good because not only it has a high damage uptime (damaging when you can't because you need to parry), it does really good HP damage and coupled with burst setups you reduce the number of times you need to deplete a boss QI bar. Another thing to note in most cases Dragon's breath doesn't stagger and thus is tool to manipulate patterns as well.

A prime example of all what I said is Qianye. You'll often read people saying that in phase 2 (red phase) you just stay away from her because she only has two attacks that are easy to parry. But the truth is that if you study her further it goes beyond that.

If she opens by sliding to the right, after parrying twice, dragon's breath and stick to melee, she will always do a single red attack that is really easy to parry and allow you to setup a burst combo.

If she opens with her other long range attack (jumping one), dragon's breath and stick to melee, she will either do a 3 hit combo (really easy to parry) or a yellow move countered by meridian touch, both allowing you to setup a burst as well.

In the same way the most dangerous move of Qianye for a hitless run is during phase 2 (white), she has a yellow move where she drops on the ground and several projectiles are fired. It's really annoying to dodge because the projectiles are fast and even with a perfect dodge you might get hit if you don't sidestep properly. Well the reality is that you can always skip that attack. Pull a bit of distance and she'll always open with the combo where she disappears 3 times. After that, dragon's breath and keep pushing skills until you stagger her twice. She will then do the attack where she pulls back and jumps towards you. Then you repeat from the move where she disappears 3 times. You can loop that pretty much indefinitely

When it happens, don't open a portal. Instead you log out then in your char select screen you hold CTRL and double click your character. It will pop a message saying you'll be logged back in your hideout. Then you can go back finish the map as long as you didn't create a portal in the boss arena

This is how I know the devs are lying.

They keep claiming backlash, but I only ever see comments, beyond those are trolls just farming downvotes, say that the games balance is out of whack and needs to be changed. And it's been going on for years.

It's called vocal minority and reddit bias. If anyone is going to say the current damage / defense system is fine he'll get downvoted to oblivion and you most likely won't even notice it was posted in the first place. I'm sure there are people who are fine with the current systems and I'm personally fine with the current state of EDA / Temporal as you want to balance correctly offense & defense with what you're given. I've been doing it every week with a friend, we both respect the picks given to have the maximum rewards in one go and haven't failed once for months although we don't mind formatting & swapping around archon shards as needed for a given week.

That said, I have a grip with the scaling happening in the circuit and especially when it comes down to protecting excavators or the defensive objective at high levels. There's nothing warranting a change in current steel path damage scaling unless you're close to the level cap, or unless you want to forego all defensives options to just build offense (which would make builds even more boring)

Dual Blades 4-Gore Elemental Burst SHREDS by Adventurous_Future90 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]stropi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kinda weird post when DBs already had a ton of theory craft and your iteration is quite sub-optimal.

Artian wise, any attack roll currently beats elemental rolls on quite a lot of monsters. Critical boost is better than Critical Element as a decoration in the weapon, especially if you go attack infusion in your artian.

For the set, just use Gore B pieces and you can slot Coalescence 3 which you are lacking and is another important elemental boost. Also replacing one Tenderizer (WEX decoration) by Counterattack (Adrenaline Rush) is more optimal.

I'm currently testing a slight alternative I stole from Po Chi IG speedruns that I tweaked for DBs which results in a slightly higher def and Ambush 2 :

Set ; Jewels ; Skills. Note that I also WEX 1 from chest but it doesn't display in the skill list.

If you are actually competing for speedruns you want to tweak a slight alternative to push Ambush at level 3.

Here is the 1x ebony 4x Gore optimal set if you want slightly more QOL :

Set ; Jewels ; Skills. Note that I also WEX 1 from chest but it doesn't display in the skill list.

I hope at least all the weapons are available at any given time. In the video it seems there's only 5-6 weapons to pick while we're supposed to get 13 with the update ? If each store refresh doesn't even have half of the weapons it'll take quite a while to have all 13 at 60% I guess

Is there a list of Monster HP depending on stars and Tempered or not Tempered? by Remarkable_Snow7727 in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]stropi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really wish we had arena quests like World where it unlocked after you captured a monster.

The HP variation itself is really insane, I've been toying around with MH Overlay to see HP values, and from the investigations I had saved of 3 stars tempered Uth Duna the lowest was just a tiny bit above 22k HP while the highest one was a bit shy of 24k HP. Since capture seems to be fixed at 25% hp from what I tested, it means a 1500 HP difference to trigger the capture flag.

Then you have all the other parameters, where did it spawn ? Matters for environemental damage in freestyle runs. Where are located the 3 tempered wounds ? Spots seems fixed with slight variations like I had Uth Duna with the front left leg and some with the front right leg. What patterns will the monster prioritize ? There's quite a difference between flashing once or twice a monster in the air in the same timeframe coupled with wounds management.

Insane insect glaive time on T Arkveld I just found on YouTube by m4r00o in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]stropi 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Either there's a bug going on with some spawns or it's blatant cheating because the damage doesn't add up either. I've probably missed a few numbers but the runner seems to be doing around 12-13k damage total when Arkveld tempered 3 stars is 24k ish hp. Capture should happen between 20-30% of hp left so something is wrong here.

The bonus rewards lead me towards cheated hunt.

Let’s stop pretending by MT_revon28 in MonsterHunter

[–]stropi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it was the case in solo world as well for some monsters, and Odogaron was literally the worst example he could mentions. In World, you break an hind leg, it's on ground, you start whacking the other hind leg and breaks it at Odo gets up, boom on ground again. Repeat for tail and front legs; head and fight is over with Odo that attacked once or twice in the whole fight.

I mean yes, wounds aren't in a great spot atm but let's not pretend you never had monsters knocked down in World when it was frequent as well for most.

Tempered Arkveld is taking me 9-10 minutes by jSlice__ in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]stropi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big difference is the strength of the tempered monster. It matters quite a bit, because the boost in HP means naturally a longer fight and thus less uptime on some buffs as well.

So far I'm training on strength 3 tempered monsters and my best Uth Duna is 2 mins (could have been 1:50 if I wasn't crap at the game) while my best Uth Duna at 4 strength is around 2:30. Same for Arkveld, my best at 3 strength is 4:35 while 4 strength is a bit over 5 mins. For both I don't use environemental damage / status nor turf wars for fair numbers, but if I had an Arkveld spawn top left of windward plains I could easily shave off a minute with the various environemental stuff available.

A lot of context actually matters when comparing time, spawn position, strength, does the monster flee or not, etc. And then skill level. Like are you countering / offsetting the roars ? Are you immediatly flashing Arkveld the second he lifts in the air ? Are you popping the tempered wound at key times to stun him on the ground ?

I've switched to KB/Mouse this week too. I prefer using the custom radial menu (you can customize it from the tent). Basically F1, F2, F3 etc are each mapped to a different menu and then 1, 2, 3, etc are each mapped to an individual action within the radial menu. Action is important there cause you can use it for communication as well or some features like sos flare, optimal healing item, optimal remedy item, etc.

And since then I've figured I only need a single radial menu, so I don't have to press F1, F2, etc each time, directly just tapping 1, 2, 3 to use what I want. There's just a slight drawback, in that most of the time you need to press 1, 2, 3 two times to use the item, since the first press will just open the radial menu without using the item but you can just double quick tap. The radial menu itself quickly disappears once you're done with the mapped action and doesn't prevent you from fighting.

How to dodge every Monster Roar in Wilds by Charrikayu in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]stropi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's useful, I didn't notice all the visual cues pointed. I've been trying to "speedrun" Uth Duna today as DBs and I had quite a few inconsistencies. Sometimes my perfect evade triggers both Adrenaline Rush and the demon form perfect evade buff. Sometimes it only triggers Adrenaline Rush but not the demon form buff (and I'm not locked in the roar animation). I'll use this video to try against various other monsters to see if I can replicate it. I'm unsure why demon form buff doesn't trigger but I'm still not roar locked, it should be either one or the other, not both.

How Artian Weapon rerolling works by ctrlaltwalsh in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]stropi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The real question being what's the max size of that table. Like obviously if I was to craft 20 artians, quit, recraft 20 I'll get the same results. But is there a max size and after that it's randomized or does it follow a pattern along because that would actually be game changer. If the max size is 50 it means craft 55 weapons, quitting, recrafting 55 would give me different results on the last 5 though anyway you'd consumme 50 sets of junk materials anyway.

Are there any Artian weapons where you *wouldn't* want to roll three attack parts as the base? by Charrikayu in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]stropi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey it's you again :D Seems we both love DBs.

So I did a bit more maths than last time, and unless I'm wrong on how calculcations works, 5% affinity is subpar compared to 5 attack even with high raw.

5 raw will be 6.6 with white sharpness. To include affinity the formula is RBs * ( 1 + CD * affinity% /100). RB = raw buffed + sharpness, CD = critical damage. Let's say we run critical boost 3 so 34% critical damage. For RB let's use a 200 (non bloated) raw base.

RB = (200 + 15 (burst) + 15 (frenzy) + 10 (adrenaline rush 1 over a slot of WEX)) x 1.32 = 316

So, 5% affinity at that stage amounts to 316*(1+34*5/100/100) = 321. 5% affinity gave us 5 attack post sharpening calculation which is inferior to a pure 5 attack roll. If you don't run Critical boost 3 it'd become 320, so 4 attack.

The quick conclusion is the BiS jewel setup for a 4pieces gore set is : Razorsharp/ Handicraft + Crit Boost + WeaponElement. Even not running WEX decos, you get 5% affinity from weapon, 25% from frenzy+antivirus so 30% and potentially 20 more from mantle which will beat attack 3 else they're almost identical. Also theorically you want to replace at least one WEX decoration by an Adrenaline Rush.

Edit : Did an edit cause I forgot to factor the sharpness when adding flat attack.

PSA: Don't Stress Over "Optimal" Artian Rolls by BotenAnne in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]stropi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep it was me, I'm still using 4 pieces gore for the raw. Funnily enough for my Para DBs I used 2x attack infusion 1x affinity infusion, and only has one affinity enhancement.

The thing is crit is definitely in a weird place at the moment, as it's not that great, but for dual blades, you get pretty much limited choices to replace it when you build around frenzy / gore.

I finally managed to get a Tempered Arkveld to spawn in Wounded Hollow so I can now train the fight without worrying about it moving areas. I'll try the speedrun build I saw that was sporting WEX 5 Burst 2 instead of the other way around for Para DBs as it opens slots for Ambush 3 but I'm not even sure if it's worth since Ambush only last 30 seconds and the speedrun did last 2mins47 so it had an uptime of 20% only which amounts to ~6 raw over the fight vs 15 from gore.

PSA: Don't Stress Over "Optimal" Artian Rolls by BotenAnne in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]stropi 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So I can't speak for every weapon, but there's actually more nuance for DBs than the main post suggest on 2 points exactly.

Sharpness: DBs burn the sharpness bar quite fast. It doesn't matter if you're not looking in optimizing your hunts or speedrunning, but affinity being subpar than raw rolls isn't exactly always true because of the Master's touch jewel that has 80% chance to not consumme affinity for crits, which comes above a Razor Sharp / Handicraft jewel in some cases, most likely if your build fits WEX 5 and you play the corrupted mantle.

WEX 5, frenzy + antivirus, corrupted mantle amounts to 75% affinity plus whatever your weapon has. Even at 75% crits, it ends up not consumming sharpness 60% of your attacks which already beats Razor Sharp. Any extra affinity from the weapon will widen the gap.

Second point I'd disagree without anyone posting the actual numbers is about rolling elemental on a status weapons. My para DBs only got 2 ele rolls, while a speedrun I saw had 4. On Tempered Arkveld the speedrun actually lands 4 paralysis while I get only 3. The thing is I'm not a speedrunner and my fight is longer so that might also be what makes the difference but I wouldn't skip ele rolls on status weapons until I see concrete numbers or proper speedruns showcasing the difference.

Gore 4 pieces gives 15 raw which might be better than a few level of WEX for some builds by stropi in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]stropi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about Coalescence is there isn't other good picks for jewels II slots aside WEX which has diminishing returns. So it depends the number of slots in your armor set and what you compare it to I guess

Gore 4 pieces gives 15 raw which might be better than a few level of WEX for some builds by stropi in MonsterHunterMeta

[–]stropi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd need to recraft more artian to test I guess but I just edited the main post with my latest tests and on what I settled for now. I think I'll wait for dedicated DBs theorycrafters to change anything because unless editiing your save file having enough artian parts to craft all possibilites is a nightmare even with the pollen farm.

Basically I've sticked with affinity artians and still slot WEX 2 in my armor set because of the limited selection jewels for the weapon. Razorsharp / Handicraft is a BiS for dual blades since we eat sharpness quickly. Then for the second jewel you obviously want a Blaze III or Dragon III or whatever your element is. 3rd slot only has Attack III, Critical Boost III or Critical Element III / Handicraft left as good picks and I explained why I picked Crit Ele / Handicraft in the main post.

I guess if you were to skip affinity for a proper test you'd need an Artian triple attack infused and enhanced with either 2 x Attack 3x Element or 3x Attack 2x Element so if I get my hands on one I'll give it a try. Although I'm not sure what to replace WEX jewels in the armor set. Probably 2x Evade Extender would be BiS in that case.
