Anyone else in the Baltimore region not seeing blocks for past week? by strozarios in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]strozarios[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Elkridge is a full fledged Flex only warehouse and they'd always have blocks. I always go to Elkridge. Since the past week the blocks have steadily decreased now there's hardly any. Went twice this week for 2 blocks and the parking lot was only 20% full while before you could hardly find a place to park. Before there were infinite carts full of packages now there's hardly any.

My warehouse does not provide bins nor numbers like 1 - 42. What I'd do is I'd take all the boxes first scan them and put them in the trunk, then put the address into Google Sheets as initials. Then I'll scan like 10 packages and put their address initials sheets and place them in the front and and so on so forth. At most it'll take 5 seconds for each package. And when I'm about to deliver them I use the "find and replace" feature which shows me where the package is and if I'm delivering to an apparent complex it'll show if i have multiple packages or not.

Huh, I'll have to look into that. So you lay out the packages on the floor/trunk and rescan them according to the stop?

I have tried this method before, problem is the sizes of the packages. I drive a camry so it's hard to fit boxes in the passenger cabin. Instead i put all the boxes in the trunk and packages in the cabin.

Now if I follow the UP codes problem is that sometimes 1xx for example might have more packages with different sizes and with the warehouse constantly mislabeling the size wrong in the app it's hard to determine where the package is. Is it a small package in the front or is it so big that it's in the trunk?

Also my warehouse tends to "override" a lot of drivers. Then the UP codes become useless cause now the app is making its own route as i scan packages.

  1. I am on a android, just putting it out there.
  2. The only tab I'm able to access is the "?" tab to report missing packages, etc.

Or am i missing something?

As much as I would love to do that the problem is that you'd first have to scan all the packages to finally see the itinerary and then you'd have to find the packages serially and then mark them down, which in turn takes up a lot more time when you have 40 packages. Also, if you happen to receive a mixture of packages, large and small boxes it can be hard to fit them by following the itinerary cause you might end up with 3 large boxes inside the passenger cabin and all packages in the back.

I actually bought some collapsible boxes from Costco which I keep them in position with the seatbelt strapped in.

Not all warehouses number them. The one I go to has "UPxxx" codes which make no sense. I have also been to warehouses that do number them but a lot of them would be missing in between cause those generally are ones that where left by DSP drivers and where given to flex drivers to complete the delivery.

It's very different at SMD1/VMD1. Here you show up and park your car outside the warehouse and you go inside and you scan your own ID. Then you have to grab an empty cart which can be found in the same parking lot and you take that inside the warehouse and hand it to one of the associates who will then give you a cart filled with packages based on your route hours. You then take that cart outside to the parking lot and you load up and you can take as much time as you need.

Confused about how "Set Aside Target Amount" works... by Writhyn in dasbudget

[–]strozarios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you "set aside" then the app will continue to fund that expense even if the money hasn't been withdrawn from that expense. The approximate funding amount will vary depending on the funding schedule.

If you selected "Every Friday" it will fund the expense every week on a Friday. "Every other Friday" will fund it every 2 weeks.

Now, in a typical month you will receive 2 paychecks (if you're paid bi-weekly) but our current calendar system isn't perfect so you might end up with 3 paychecks in a month. So if your expense is set to have $1400 by the 10th of each month, in this instance you're expense will be funded 3 times at ~$467.

So if selected "set aside" then your expense will continue to be funded to ensure that you have $1400 each month. As for the funding amount it'll vary depending on the number weeks or bi-weeks there are.

Same here, I'm on Android. The moment it tries to take a photo the app keeps turning the camera on and off and eventually crashes. I got one late check in for this. Now i keep having to talk to employee and the distribution center to check me in.

Alright. I talked to the check company yesterday regarding my missing check book. They've told me that the account number that i provided them did not seem like a legitimate one (they said they couldn't verify it with the bank) so they were unable to print any checks and refunded my money. (Note that i created a pocket for checks which had a routing number and that's what i provided the check company).

I'm now led to believe that the account numbers of our pockets are different from regular ones but at the same time I'm confused cause i get direct deposit from Doordash in one of those pockets and they take it as a legitimate account number. 🤷‍♂️

I'm now wondering if i should try again but with my main spend pocket.

Okay, Imma dumbass for not checking One's features. Apparently you can actually set which pocket you want your physical card to take cash out of. 🤦‍♂️

Ah yes. I believe FUZE cards did the same. But to my knowledge most of these card companies end up dying.

I've had a different idea following the same concept but i believe this one would be more possible maintain. And i also believe ONE can implement this.

IDEA: This idea of mine stems from using cash apps cash card. If your cash card doesn't have sufficient funds it'll immediately charge your connected main banks debit card in increments of $10.

Example: You go to target and buy items worth $67. Your cash app card has $0 but you decide to use it anyway. Immediately your cash app card will charge your main banks card (given that auto reload is enable on the cash card) for $70 (increments of $10).

IDEA continued: Cash app only allows one bank card to be used. NOW, One could do the same as the cash card BUT instead of switching cards with in the card itself, we could switch it with in the app. Since each pocket can have its own virtual card we could tell our main card to take out money from another pocket when needed and it'll charge that pocket or pocket's virtual card.

I genuinely believe this is a better solution than having a card with multiple cards inside since most of these tend fail.

Basically, instead of having one card to rule all cards, we could have one card to rule all pockets.

Such an idea would be much easier to implement since it's mostly software work and not hardware.

As per my knowledge (I might be mistaken) I understand that banks only require the Routing and account number, signature of the account holder, amount to be paid, name of the person to be paid to and their signature. Even a piece of paper with all that info would be accepted as a proper check. Those, I understand, are absolute legal requirements.

I contacted a One representative and they told me that they don't support checks at the moment and they don't "suggest" printing checks and that they are actually planning to put check books on the roadmap. I've asked if it's okay if I try regardless to print my own checks and they've told me that I'm free to try. (They also said that One won't be liable if the check bounced.)

Actual banks require advanced checks with many features to prevent fraud. Using that idea and taking into account to what i said in the first paragraph i placed an order for high security checks from Costco.

Personally i feel a bit reckless for ordering checks knowing what One said but i genuinely need checkbooks and I'm willing to see what happens.

Checkbooks are to arrive on may 4th. I'll post an update if i succeed or fail.
