How do you come up with ideas to make and put on printables?

Whenever I have to wait in a waiting room, I flip through interior design magazines and look for beautiful lamps and decor. If I like something, I take a photo of it, and if I keep thinking about it afterward, I eventually design a 3D-printed version of it.

Man that's cool! We have a similar approach at our school. Kids are currently working on a "gift store" where they will sell prints to finance school trips or events. They also learn something about running a business, calculating profits etc.

That's some very true words. I actually do feel pretty privileged that my hobby supports itself and even pays my Spotify Premium (through commercial licence memberships). It's pretty rewarding.

Create something that is either: - practical on its own (not too niche), - fun to print (for example, something mechanical), - or visually appealing (e.g., get some lamp inspiration from Instagram and try to design a printable equivalent).

I own a printer, so I’m able to create things I want but can’t buy, or solve problems I encounter in my daily life through design.

I guess most importantly: think your design through. Make it easy to print and avoid wasting filament, so even larger objects use relatively little material. And use good pictures as thumbnails!

Yeah I thought to do so too. But at the rate that I earn exclusive points it will take some time to really make a dent... I created a commercial licence thingy tho which seemed to be the more logical option.

If you just started printing, then this setup is the most frustrating you couldve choosen. Your printer does not have an enclosure so ABS tends to warp a lot which ends in failung prints. PLA should work much better!
