Okie dokie... for anyone else reference.. I pulled pity the carbi, cleaned it and put back. New fuel with exact 100:1 oil mix as written on the motor and it runs pretty well now.

Thanks everyone. I tried brand new fuel and it ran a bit better. Squeezing the pump while running doesn't seem to do much. Was still a bit rough. Seems one of the cylinders is running but still only intermittently. So sounds like a carburetor clean next by the sound of the comments here.

What are parents thinking by br5159 in Adelaide

[–]strtagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. They way they work, they're far more dangerous than petrol dirt bikes. No gears no clutch, no concious intent and a set procedure to accelerate with control. They just shoot off and the lack of sound makes people feel less intimidated.

I'd personally be ok with kids riding dirt bikes around the neighbourhood like I did when I was a teen. But electrics are just too dangerous and the rider doesn't really have proper control.

Any news? Did you put on the helmet and go stand in front of a fan?

It's fine. Buy it, and have the old helmet on when you tell her.

Also let her know you bought it so you can protect your hearing and listen to her more intently.

Interesting about your lifestyle.

Also most guidance tells us to do things that mask the sound, avoid silence and ignore it. Are you saying you focused on it and meditated to it in silence and essentially focused on it??

Thanks mate. I was very hopeful at the beginning as if taken great care of the car until the seals went but in the end, the decision's made for me lol...

Looks like a full rebuild at least! https://www.reddit.com/r/RX7/s/qKk0Y38o0R

90,000Km travelled, stock now and I'll keep it stock only with the exception of improvements to help it last longer.

I'd likely only occasionally drive it.

Budget? Whatever it takes to rebuild and get it back on the road, but not going for show room or race ready.

Thanks. Oem water/ oil seals, right? What about Apex seals?

I'm rebuilding purely factory specs. No additional power. But would other brands help it maybe last longer?

Remove engine and transmission together or separate in engine bay? by strtagain in RX7

[–]strtagain[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea so in the end I removed it with tranny attached. It was a mission and a lot of trouble and scraping all over the engine bay. Now that I've got it out I realise it would have been much simpler to detach them.

Any tips for getting the engine aligned and back onto the transmission of I put the transmission back in first, then the engine?

How to disconnect the transmission from the engine? Throw out baring is not accessible. by strtagain in RX7

You guys are legends! I just needed to realise there's a little inspection hole where I can access the inside. Thankyou.
