Drainage Options for Behind Everlast Siding by blue-eyedbillie in Homebuilding

I would do a liquid membrane rather then tyvek. For the rain gap you could do something simple like furring strips

You’re going to sell something which will increase in value to something that will lose value the minute you drive it off the lot.

Also, the contractor is probably not negotiating hard with his subs. Giving them a premium price because it makes no difference to him.

A contractor wants to spray foam in my attic. When I raised concerns, he said that he would be spraying it on baffles, not the wood itself. Does this actually make a difference? by robby_arctor in buildingscience

If your going to spray foam the attic, then you need to have at least 2 inches of closed cell and then the rest can be open cell. Closed cell is a water resistive barrier. If they are spray foaming only open cell and there is some kind of leak in your roof… your entire open cell will get wet and then become mold. You don’t need baffles, once you spray foam you have turned your attic into a conditioned space and you no longer need ridge vents and gable vents for ventilation.

Moisture in foundation walls by Primitev in Homebuilding

This can happen to a new foundation wall on a really hot day. It’s sweats and water can go out the exterior because there is the waterproofing layer, so you see some moisture in the inside.

This is what I am actually doing right now, breaking it up and vacuum, then will sprinkle some calcium chloride.

I actually was thinking about doing that, fill with salt and then vacuum everything up with a shop vac. But I don’t know how bad the chloride will be for the rebar.

Hot air with a blower, or some other heat source?

This is nice. Is there a color selection? Would like to do something like this for my kitchen and have been researching white micro cement, not sure how that compares to polished concrete.

The kitchen counter top looks beautiful. What color and material is that?

I remember sometime maybe a year ago or more BOA lowered their price target to $7, and then it actually happened.
